A VERY common question we get asked is “when should I start having my child be seen at an orthodontist?”

Our answer is always, 7 (unless recommended to be seen sooner)!! Now, this may come as a shock for your child to be seen that early. However, in reality there is no negative for them to be seen as early as 7. If there is nothing urgent to be done then we will continue to monitor them as they grow.

When kids are that age they are losing teeth AND growing teeth. While it is exciting when their adult teeth start coming in, you also need to be watching HOW they are coming in.

When instances (as shown in the photo) are left with no treatment, it can cause future damage for your child’s teeth. Seeing them this young gives us the opportunity to identify any potential problems with jaw growth and tooth alignments that need to be dealt with.
