Dr. Bobbi Wegner Practicing integrative psychotherapy and behavioral medicine with a focus on health, wellness, and i

Dr. Bobbi Wegner is a MA and NY licensed clinical psychologist with expertise in health psychology and behavioral medicine. Although she is a clinical health psychologist by training, and often explores how biological, psychological, and social factors contribute to one's functioning, she identifies as an integrative therapist and pulls from many different evidence-based philosophies to understand

each individual's unique needs. Her main areas of focus include behavioral medicine, clinical hypnosis, biofeedback, mindfulness-based stress management, pregnancy, and postpartum adjustment. She has also has a niche practice working with pregnant women and new mothers. She sees clients for individual therapy and runs groups (Biofeedback Baby: Learn to Relax Your Mind, Body, & Baby During Pregnancy; Mindful Mamas: A Group for New Mums and Their New Babes). Aside from her clinical training, much of her real life experience comes from raising three loving and rambunctious children of her own. Dr. Wegner received her doctoral degree from The Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology. She also completed an APA-Internship at Mount Sinai School of Medicine (in Rehabilitation Medicine and Neuropsychology) in New York City, followed by a post-doctoral fellowship at Boston Behavioral Medicine in Brookline, MA, where she currently works as a core staff member (www.bostonbmed.com). She teaches and supervises advanced psychology interns and post-doctoral fellows at Boston Behavioral Medicine. She also has a regular column in The Milton Times, called Raising & Roasting, that focuses on parenting, psychology, and food, and can be read at www.drbobbiwegner.com. You can also find the podcast under the same name in ITunes and on her website.

Talking about race is hard. Us white people have no idea what to say. We care, we want it to be different, but we don’t have the words - and have the privilege to turn away. And that is costing black lives. •
•

I have plenty of my own work to do, and I’m also committed to being a part of the conversation and action. Let’s talk. About race. White people. Black people. All people. Push through the discomfort. •

I am completely and utterly humbled to join the Board of - the US arm of the UN Migration Agency. I spent yesterday learning more about the depth of their work and how they are literally involved in any and every humanitarian issue across the globe.

My energy, ideas, and excitement are spilling over, knowing I can make a real impact on the lives of our some of our most vulnerable, global citizens. If you have an interested in learning more, let me know. We already have some Boston events in the works. Follow and to learn more. 🌎

Empathy: to understand and share the feelings of another. There are 3 kinds: cognitive (to think), emotional (to feel)
and compassionate (to be moved to act).•
•
As a white privileged woman, I think it’s nearly impossible for me to truly empathize with black parents. But I try. And I ask myself “What if my kids were black? What would I say? What would I do? How would I feel? What would I need?”
•
•
As a white parent, you might not know what to say. Or do. Or how to act. But say something. Do something. Try something. Parenting is the best effort we have in changing the cultural messaging that perpetuates racism. Nothing will change if we don’t say anything - because we are too scared, too uncomfortable, and too embarrassed to try. I know you care and your silence is deadly. Find the words. •
