A Snowy Night - Another night of leaning ❄️ .
On March 3rd, Boston was hit by another heavy snow. Icy roads and slow traffic didn’t stop many of us Boston dentists from heading out for Dr. Fouad Khoury’s bone augmentation workshop in Cambridge MA.
The course focused on Dr. Khoury’s Carotta GBR concept, a technique developed more than 20 years ago by this German master. We learned his concept and practiced placing micro-screws fixation of bone cores on 3D-printed models. The key philosophy emphasized in the Khoury system is: “Bone augmentation should be biologically driven.”
Autogenous bone grafts contain living bone cells and typically result in minimal postoperative reaction and faster healing. In many cases, healing occurs in about 3–4 months, and implants can often be placed simultaneously.
The longer I practice implant dentistry, the more I realize that stability and predictability are what matter most.
A memorable snowy night in Boston filled with learning and inspiration. ❄️
