Spring is here, and it's the perfect time to refresh your brain health habits.

Longer days and warmer weather create natural opportunities to support your neurological wellness:

☀️ Get outside for natural light exposure (helps regulate sleep and mood)

🚶 Move your body daily (even 20-minute walks boost cognitive function)

🥗 Add more colorful vegetables to your meals (antioxidants protect brain cells)

💧 Stay hydrated as temps rise (dehydration affects focus and memory)

😴 Keep consistent sleep schedules (your brain needs 7-9 hours to repair)

Small, seasonal shifts can make a big difference for your brain over time.

Did you know that we have early childhood education for the kids in our Naomi Family Program? That’s right! While moms are working through trauma, healing, learning life-skills and becoming financially stable, kids ages 6 weeks up to Kindergarten can attend our Child Development Center.
It’s licensed and accredited. AND got the highest rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐ from Parent Aware! 👏

Not only that, but 83% of children meet standard kindergarten readiness benchmarks and 100% get the support they need to be ready for the first day of school. 🏫

It’s also open to the community! Wanna learn more? >> ugmtc.org/cdc

What’s on your “Dopamine Menu?”

Got the vacation blues? Time to double down on the dopamine hits this week. Check out this dopamine menu below for some ideas.

Today, my dopamine hits included:
🍹putting a fancy straw in my protein shake to make me think it is a tropical drink
☀️ eating my lunch outside in the sun
💪🧠 hitting the gym and chiro because my body and mental health depend on each other
🥪⚾️ packing a picnic for dinner and playing baseball at the park with my boys
🏝 searching for new spring break spots for next year
💛 messaging my friends about wanting to be in our spring break pool again because reminiscing can bring back the good feels

Right now, families are walking through our doors at Crisis Nursery asking for help. and we want to be able to say yes.

During intake, we do our best to also send families home with essentials like diapers, formula, hygiene items, and simple tools that help keep their children safe and thriving.

But today, we’re out of something that makes a real difference for families when we’re able to offer it: home safety kits

These are the items like outlet covers, cabinet locks, door k**b covers, corner protectors, that prevent injuries and give parents peace of mind. For families already under stress, that safety matters so much.

We want to make sure they’re available when families need them

If you’re able, please consider purchasing a home safety kit from Amazon and having it shipped directly to Crisis Nursery. It’s a simple way to step in for a family who needs support right now.

(See comment below!)

💛 Your kindness helps create safer homes for children in our community, when it matters most.

We should talk about our mental health the same way we talk about our physical health—as a normal, open conversation, because it is just as important.

Peb yuav tsum tham txog peb txoj kev nyuaj siab thiab kev ntxhov siab ib yam li peb tham txog peb txoj kev noj qab haus huv - sib tham qhib siab, sib pab txhawb siab, vim nws tseem ceeb ib yam.

April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month, a time to recognize the strength of those living with Parkinson’s disease and to raise awareness about this progressive neurological condition. Parkinson’s occurs when certain nerve cells in the brain break down and stop producing dopamine, leading to symptoms such as tremor, slowed movement, stiffness, and changes in speech, sleep, digestion, and mood.

At Noran Neurology, our Movement Disorders subspecialists provide expert evaluation and individualized treatment options—including medication management, surgical options like deep brain stimulation (DBS), and supportive therapies focused on mobility, balance, and quality of life.

This month, we stand with our patients, families, and caregivers. By learning the signs, encouraging early evaluation, and supporting ongoing research, we can make a meaningful difference.
