RESTORATIVE PERFORMANCE workshops return!

Winter got ya down? And, like, EVERYTHING ELSE? You know what helps? If I may suggest, make art and share your stories with like-minded creative souls in a supportive, non-judgemental environment.

We are back this Winter/Spring with 2 offerings, the online ongoing “Embodied StoryLab" where you bring in a performance, piece of art, or writing to present or interpret, or wing it and improv in the moment. Either way we want to hear your voice and share your vision. First virtual session is Saturday Feb 7th 4pm on zoom $30-50.

In-person RESTORATIVE PERFORMANCE workshops resume in Brooklyn March/April/May. Here we combine healing with performance, to explore our stories and how we shape and are shaped by this world.

Our theme this semester for both workshops is “Mayhem & Meaning.” We’ll explore this theme through poetry, theater, dance, photography, collage, music, you name it. Bring your creative gifts to bear and show us how you feel about what the heck is happening and what can be done. Personal or political.

What is Restorative Performance? It's a monthly in-person arts and performance therapeutic workshop in Brooklyn and beyond. We make art from our experiences. No experience necessary. Each session has two therapist/artists who can help you chart new paths forward .

Fall 2025 sessions are posted! Each session is during the day on Saturday, 2 hours, with a "quiet" 3rd hour for hanging out or making more art.

Sat Sept 20th - Improv & Embodiment: We'll bring in our problems and worries and let our bodies do the talking!

Sat Oct 18th - Parts Work & Monologues: A part of you might be sabotaging your self-esteem and progress. Learn about these important protectors and give them a voice!

Sat Nov 15th - Psychodrama & Scenework: Who are you in relationship? Using Psychodrama techniques and improvised or established text, rehearse change!

Final performances Dec 6th (attend any session and get the performance day free!)

RESTORATIVE PERFORMANCE: Make Art from your Experiences

Registration is now open for our FALL COHORT, a monthly in-person, therapeutic performance workshop (Sept/Oct/Nov/Dec) that can promise to help lift burdens and push through blocks that may be hindering your way forward. Making art that speaks to your experiences is a way to gently hold and reconsider who we are and who we might like to be. Together, in our small group, we will RE-STORY and REFRAME the rigid stories that binds us, we will RE-DIRECT and REVITALIZE stuck energy, clearing the blockage with movement, music, art, theater, performance, and joy. Whether your blockage is career, relationships, purpose, sense of self, or shedding old patterns that no longer serve, RESTORATIVE PERFORMANCE can RENEW your vision and RESTORE your passion.

Feel like you might “overshare” in our arts and performance workshop? Fear not, watch this:

RESTORATIVE PERFORMANCE is a workshop in Greenpoint Brooklyn this weekend 7/12 that calls on the arts, like movement, music, theater, and visual arts to help us find ways to get UNSTUCK, whether it’s in career, relationships, or sense of self. Each 3 hour in-person workshop culminates in an individual “performance” in a beautiful space under lights with sound and our circle as the audience. “Performance” is in quotes because while some will perform in the traditional sense, reading or reciting poetry, singing or moving to music, some will share stories and other works of art they have made. It’s surprising but this is actually shows growth. Awareness of those younger wounded selves and their protectors, even if you feel helpless, is a significant change in your internal status quo. Keep asking questions, be as gentle as you can, go slow, and seek to understand.
