Rue // Ruda

Put some respect on this fragrant herb. Its potent scent is unmistakable and has earned its reputation for its protective qualities. It absorbs lingering negative energy, while creating a powerful shield against mal de ojo (evil eye) 🧿 and other low vibrational spirits.

Our favorite way to use Rue is by infusing it in water to cleanse the home. Its natural cleansing properties makes it perfect for clearing altars, mantles, and divination tools used in spiritual ceremonies and rituals. It can also be added to baths to banish any negativity on the body.

For many of us who are born and raised outside of their ancestral land, photos serve as vessels of memories, emotions, and experiences that deepen our connection to our cultural roots. They hold the stories we long to hear and the moments we hope to never forget. Honoring the matriarchs and pillars who came before us helps us reclaim lost traditions and wisdom, providing a strong foundation of belonging and self-identity.

Guava leaves // Hojas de Guayaba

The term guava comes from the Taino Arawak word “guayabo”, which translates to guava tree.

Traditionally, guavas have been used as a source of both food and medicine throughout tropical and subtropical regions. This fragrant fruit carries a high source of vitamin c and fiber. Its natural healing properties can help support our immune system and ease digestive issues.

The leaves, though overlooked by many, provide us with additional healing and are highly respected by herbalists, and curanderos. ( ) They can be burned as a form of smudging or smoke cleansing to release negative energy in our spaces. Guava leaf tea can aid with managing blood sugar levels and stress.

Our personal favorite method is boiling the leaves and adding the water to our floor washes to help rid the space of illness and evilness.
