Self advocacy and sensory needs! We love making slime, arts and crafts and dress up. It’s not only a great way to connect with peers, but also an important way to build self advocacy skills. Don’t like slime touching your fingers? We’ve got spoons! Don’t want to use glitter glue in a project? We’ve got funnels and sparkles! Giving our children the tools to self advocate is an important way to support neurodiversity in a social community!

A box of flowers….turns into poison! Some of our kids need a little context to get their play going and connected. Even better when we create context from their own play ideas. Poison flowers….for the ancient red dragons of course!

PlayGroup Social Skills Groups

Krista Wilbur and Becky Thomas as Special Education Itinerant Teachers who work together to create a fun, child-centered approach to developing social skills and work on mental health. We take a cognitive, play-based approach to scaffold social skill development. We individualize our curriculum in order to address each child’s specific social concern. We use play-based methods, and create child-led activities for our sessions to teach and practice specific social skills. Most importantly, we like to make community building and connection-making fun for all of our students!
