100 Years of Black History - North Brooklyn Black History Celebration

On Thursday, February 19, 2026, our community gathered at P.S. 250 in Brooklyn to celebrate 100 Years of Black History Month at the North Brooklyn Black History Celebration — an evening honoring the rich history, achievements, and enduring contributions of Black leaders in our community.

We are especially proud that our CEO, Sandra Sneed, was recognized among this year’s distinguished honorees, receiving a Proclamation. Under her leadership, NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull continues to advance equitable, high-quality care for North Brooklyn.

The evening, beautifully emceed by Barbara Williams, featured inspiring tributes and community performances, with additional honorees including our dedicated elected officials, community leaders and partners. Tabling by our WICK Against Violence Interruption Program, joined by Jessica Arocho, Director of Community Affairs, NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull. And there was a special raffle won by a member of Woodhull Hospital's Patient and Family Advisory Committee (PFAC).

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this meaningful and memorable celebration..

We are grateful to the Woodhull Auxiliary for their generous donation to NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull’s Mother Baby and Neonatal Intensive Care Units.

Through their support, a jaundice bilimeter has been procured to enhance point-of-care bilirubin testing for newborns. This equipment allows our clinical teams to assess and monitor jaundice quickly and accurately, strengthening our ability to deliver safe, timely, and high-quality care to our smallest patients.

We thank the Woodhull Auxiliary for their continued commitment to advancing maternal and newborn health in our community.
