Did you know why we need stretching before exercise?

Stretching before exercise is important for injury prevention because it increases flexibility, improves range of motion, enhances circulation, reduces muscle stiffness, and prepares the body for physical activity. This preparation lowers the risk of strains, sprains, and other musculoskeletal injuries.
STAY SAFE AND ACTIVE!!!

It is recommended to have regular to moderate physical activity for people who have knee osteoarthritis to alleviate pain and improve mobility. Moving less diminishes physical fitness which may result to loss of strength, stamina, and flexibilty. Lack of physical activity can make pain and stiffness worse.

The type of physical activity needs to be appropriate for osteoarthritis.

The following sports are generally recommended:
• exercise bike
• swimming
• walking
• tai-chi
• qi-gong
• yoga
• stretching

It is best to consult a doctor before getting started. For pain relief, you may schedule an appointmet at SJL Physical Therapy 718-532-4474
