New Year’s Eve culture can be intense. The pressure to drink, party, or go along with the crowd is real—especially if you’re in recovery. But here’s your reminder: You don’t have to give in.

Protect your progress with these two essential tips:

1️⃣ Don’t be afraid to say no.
Whether it’s to an invite, a drink, or a situation that doesn’t feel safe—your "no" is valid. You don’t owe anyone an explanation. Your recovery is worth more than a moment of fitting in.

2️⃣ Choose your celebration wisely.
Opt for spaces and people that honor your journey. That could mean spending the night with close friends who support your goals, joining a recovery-friendly event, or even having a quiet night to reflect and reset. There's no one "right" way to ring in the new year.

You get to decide what this NYE looks like—and it should feel empowering, not pressuring.

Across countless neighborhood, shul, and school initiatives, the Ohel community came together to ensure that every child, teen, and adult in our care felt the warmth, joy, and dignity of Chanukah.

Through Ohel’s Chanukah Gift Drive, over 1,100 gifts were donated and distributed to individuals and families across a wide range of Ohel programs.

Each participating group embraced a different population within Ohel, tailoring their donations to meet unique needs. Toys and games, scarves and cosmetics, handmade blankets and personal care items were all thoughtfully chosen—some even lovingly crafted—to make recipients feel seen and valued.

What began as a seasonal campaign blossomed into a movement of generosity. And because of that collective effort, 1,100 individuals across Ohel experienced the light of Chanukah—through kindness, connection, and care.
