In the 30 years of being a physical therapist and strength coach, I’ve learned a great deal about health, fitness, and wellness. But I’ve not been following the essential principles of growth, healing, rest, and recovery. I have not been practicing what I preach. I’ve been skipping steps, ignoring what my body was trying to tell me during and outside of training. And so I’d repeat the same cycle — train for a few months …get injured…take time off to heal… train for a few months…get injured…

Moving forward into 2025, I am abandoning the insanity!  No more training through pain. No more dreading workouts. No more injuries.

Returning to the drawing board, I will rebuild this 57-year-old frame and once again enjoy working out. I am going to make all of my muscle and joint pain disappear.

Today, I’m NOT Training Thru My Elbow Pain 💪🏿🩹!

When I was younger, I got away with it busting thru workouts with an injury. Of course, I was invincible🦸🏿‍♂️.

Now, in my 50’s, I gotta be much more sensible and 👂🏽listen to the “issues in my tissues”.

Benching was on the training 🏋🏿‍♀️itinerary for today. But pain dictated a change in plans, telling me to unload my sore elbow joint, and opt for another exercise —-push ups.

STAIR CLIMBING KNEE PAIN
How I Treated My Own Knees

There is no secret sauce or magic “blue” pill to treating knee pain. The key 🔑 here s knowing what’s “broken“, and taking the right steps to fix them. Spot 🔍 the GLITCHES in your body MATRIX!

In 2021, I was limping up and down stairs because of severe knee pain. Currently, I’m running up and downstairs, almost pain-free. (There is still work 🏋🏿‍♀️to be done.)

I used the steps below to rehab my own knees, and also use this protocol with all of my clients.

- Brain 🧠: Pick out the GLITCHES in your body MATRIX.
- Pain 🩹: Unload tissues and joints.
- 🧘🏿‍♀️ Mobility: Regain normal, functional range of motion.
- 💪🏿Strength & Power: Improve “muscle performance”, specific to your sport or activity.

My client, Joshua, is a fitness model. Aesthetically, this guy is chiseled 💪🏿. But you can see that trying to maintain balance 🤸🏿in and out of a quadruped (on all 4’s) position presents a great challenge🥵.

🤔 Think about this. If Joshua is this unstable in a supported position, what happens when he goes vertical …or adds a load 🏋🏿‍♀️ ? How does his body compensate for this GLITCH?
