⬇️ Read about two of the community members we served this year!

These stories illustrate how RaisingHealth doesn't just provide individual services to individual community members, but rather holistic support. Our team addresses multiple health and social needs for each community member--and their family members and friends too. 🫱🏾‍🫲🏽

We're only $400 away from meeting our 2025 fundraising goal. Donate now to ensure we can continue supporting immigrants holistically in 2026: bit.ly/donateRH 🫂

All year, we've been hearing from our immigrant community members that they feel unsafe, due in large part to the dramatic expansion of immigration enforcement activity in NYC. Increasingly severe weather patterns and ongoing fear of violence, especially among older adults, contribute to this pervasive feeling. ⛈️ 🚨 🗣️

In response, RaisingHealth expanded our safety programming, serving a total of 7,112 individuals! That consisted of:
• Training 484 people in Know Your Rights, self-defense, and/or emergency response (like CPR) skills ⛑️
• Distributing emergency preparedness materials (like flood barriers) to 185 people 🌊
• Holding racial justice conversations with 195 people 💬
• Providing emergency response resources to 6,166 people 📚

Despite these accomplishments, our community continues to need training and support to feel equipped against threats to their safety. To sustain this work, we need to raise $10,000 by December 31st--and we need only $1,000 more to reach our goal! Donate now at bit.ly/donateRH to ensure we cross the finish line 💪🏾

Special thanks to our partners in these activities: Homecrest Community Services, Inc., Chinese-American Planning Council, Councilmember Alexa Avilés, Asian American Federation, and Center for Antiviolence Education ❤️

In the past year, RaisingHealth has distributed 280,000 pounds of food to over 12,000 people. 🤩

Our biweekly food distributions provide immigrant families with bags of fresh groceries tailored to their culture and food traditions. 🍎🥕🍌🥬🫐🍆🧅 With our three program locations, as well as partnerships with dozens of local schools and organizations, we can offer our distros all around South Brooklyn, bringing food directly to our community members who need it most.

Special thank you to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital for donating hundreds of bags of food to RaisingHealth this year, as well as your support for our 10th annual Health Empowerment Celebration! 🙌🏽

The clock is ticking for us to reach our $10,000 fundraising goal by December 31st. Your donation will ensure we can sustain our much-needed food distros. Give today at bit.ly/donateRH! 💝

It's been a difficult year, but our staff continue to shine. 💫

RaisingHealth's staff have worked tirelessly throughout 2025 to ensure every individual we serve gets the myriad forms of support they need. That means: listening to community members' personal challenges that go far beyond the purpose of their appointment; packing hundreds of bags of groceries and handing them all out right after; providing in-the-moment language interpretation for workshops; creating and refining daily curricula for ESOL classes; coordinating across tens of partner organizations to attend our community events; and so much more.

Our staff have truly gone above and beyond this year, despite the challenges we're all facing in this hostile political environment. Our community thanks them--and we recognize and celebrate their hard work. 👏🏾

To every RaisingHealth staff member: Thank you so much for making our 15th year so successful. We can't wait to see you shine in 2026! 💛✨

Cancer detection and care is RaisingHealth's newest program area.

In the spring, we introduced a new breast cancer screening technology to a community-based setting for the first time in the U.S., after it was tested in other countries. 🩺 In September, we made history by convening all of NYC’s major cancer providers in Sunset Park for the first time to deliver free cancer screenings and resources to immigrant families. 🥼 We also unveiled NYC’s first CT van by Weill Cornell Medicine to conduct lung cancer screenings. 🫁

Building on these milestones, RaisingHealth plans to host regular in-house cancer screening events in 2026 to sustain immigrant communities' access to the education, early detection, cancer care, and emotional support they need. 💪

RaisingHealth acts as the community-based coordinator bringing cancer providers together in Brooklyn. We couldn't offer such a comprehensive suite of cancer screenings and services without our amazing partners: Weill Cornell, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, NYU Langone Health's Perlmutter Cancer Center, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the iBreast team, and SHARE Cancer Support. We're so grateful to be collaborating with you. 💛

We need your help to sustain our cancer services in 2026 Donate today at bit.ly/donateRH!

As our immigrant communities face immense harms, stressors, and barriers to care, RaisingHealth has stepped up to expand our free, culturally tailored mental health services for uninsured individuals. We're proud to say we've delivered in-language mental health counseling to over 300 community members in 2025! 💪🏽🧠

In recognition of this impact and our program's accessibility and replicability, the American Psychiatric Association Foundation presented us with the national Award for Advancing Minority Mental Health. 🏆

We've held a wide variety of programming, from cancer support sessions to arts-based therapy to large mental health fairs. 🫂🌷 Every session with our community members makes a difference--in their ability to survive, feel equipped to manage their stressors, and find joy and purpose.

By making these sessions completely free to participants, we take on their full cost. That's why we need your help! 🙏🏾 We're less than $4,000 away from our goal to raise $10,000 by December 31st. Donate today to ensure we can deliver the accessible care our community needs: bit.ly/donateRH. ❤️

Over the past two years, we've been hearing a growing need for workforce development services in our community. We listened and got to work! As of 2025, we can proudly say workforce development is fully integrated into our Education Program. 🤩

We provide our ESOL students with three pathways for advancement: Higher Education, Job Readiness, and Entrepreneurship. Each pathway includes tailored classroom activities, such as resume-writing and business planning; visits to local community colleges; and panels of experts in students' top industries of interest. 🗣️ We've helped our students move from the initial stages of defining their goals to getting hired, enrolling in college, and starting a business!

Other English and workforce immersion opportunities for students include CPR trainings (photo 1); events for presenting their learned skills (photos 2 & 3); a green jobs learning module with UpRose Bk (photos 4 & 5); a theater workshop series with Gung Ho Projects (photos 6 & 7); and field trips to practice their English (photos 8 & 9). 🎤 ♻️ 🎭

We're so grateful to Brooklyn Org and New York City Civic Engagement Commission for their critical support of our workforce development programming, which has made this incredible impact possible! 🫂

Now, we need YOUR support: To sustain this impact, we need to raise $10,000 by December 31st. We're nowhere near our goal yet. Donate today at bit.ly/donateRH! 🫶🏾

Our 4th annual toy and food distribution, Winter Wonderland, took place on Saturday--just hours before the season's first snowfall landed in NYC. Coincidence? We think not! 😉
