All year, we've been hearing from our immigrant community members that they feel unsafe, due in large part to the dramatic expansion of immigration enforcement activity in NYC. Increasingly severe weather patterns and ongoing fear of violence, especially among older adults, contribute to this pervasive feeling. ⛈️ 🚨 🗣️
In response, RaisingHealth expanded our safety programming, serving a total of 7,112 individuals! That consisted of:
• Training 484 people in Know Your Rights, self-defense, and/or emergency response (like CPR) skills ⛑️
• Distributing emergency preparedness materials (like flood barriers) to 185 people 🌊
• Holding racial justice conversations with 195 people 💬
• Providing emergency response resources to 6,166 people 📚
Despite these accomplishments, our community continues to need training and support to feel equipped against threats to their safety. To sustain this work, we need to raise $10,000 by December 31st--and we need only $1,000 more to reach our goal! Donate now at bit.ly/donateRH to ensure we cross the finish line 💪🏾
Special thanks to our partners in these activities: Homecrest Community Services, Inc., Chinese-American Planning Council, Councilmember Alexa Avilés, Asian American Federation, and Center for Antiviolence Education ❤️
