✨ Meet Marlee! ✨

Marlee discovered yoga in high school while looking for relief from back pain, and found so much more: a space to cultivate mindfulness and connection through movement.

After completing her 200-hour teacher training at Dou with Yuuki Hirano, Kate Lieberman and Shieri Yamafuji, she continued deepening her practice with Yin Yoga training at Heatwise and Yoga Nidra with Vrin Rao after.

Her classes focus on presence, breath, and creating space in both body and mind. Marlee is honored to share the tools she’s gathered on her own yoga journey with our community.

Join her for:
Thursday 8pm — Yin & Restore
Saturday 8:30am — Morning Yin

Come feel the calm and connection for yourself! 💛

Join Hanne Larsen for a community workshop at Dou Yoga, designed for queer-identifying chronic cuties. Over the course of 90 minutes, we’ll check in, learn about chronic pain, practice a gentle yoga sequence, and create a safe space for reflection. You’ll leave with a toolbox for the winter that we’ve created together. Above all, we will weave joy throughout, as there is no healing without it!

From Hanne💫
This workshop is a love letter to community: a reassurance that you’re not alone in your experiences. Based on my journey with multiple chronic conditions, I am carving this space out for queer-identifying folks who also have a laundry list of body baggage. Together, we’ll unload that weight, tend to our bodies, and collectively create a toolbox for the winter.

Meet Grace, one of our wonderful workstudy members 🤍

Grace has been with the Dou workstudy community for over two years. The program has supported her in staying consistent with her practice and finding space to reset throughout the week, and in return, she brings so much care and presence into the studio.

Outside of Dou, Grace works as a freelance photographer and generously helps document our community gatherings with teachers and workstudy members.

You can see her Monday 8pm class 💛💫

As the year comes to a close, it’s a natural time to pause and reflect. What have you learned in 2025?
What has shifted, softened, or strengthened within you?

And gently…
✨ What kind of teacher — and human — do you want to become in 2026? ✨

Our 300-Hour Yoga Teacher Training is a year-long journey designed for those who are ready to deepen their practice, refine their voice, and integrate yoga beyond the mat and into daily life.

This is not about rushing or collecting hours. It’s about commitment, embodiment, and integration, supported by mentorship, community, and time.

Whether you’re seeking more confidence in your teaching, a stronger connection to philosophy and therapeutics, or a sustainable path forward as a yoga teacher, this training is an invitation to grow with intention.

Winter Solstice marks the longest night of the year, a quiet turning point. A moment to slow down, reflect, and gently plant intentions for what you wish to grow as the light slowly returns.

In the midst of the holiday season, when everything feels busy and outward, the solstice invites us to come back inward. To rest. To breathe. To reconnect with our bodies and our inner rhythm.

✨ Still looking for a meaningful holiday gift?

A yoga package can be a beautiful way to offer care, presence, and time, something that continues to give long after the holidays are over. Whether it’s for someone you love (or for yourself), gifting movement and breath is a reminder that wellbeing is not a luxury, it’s essential.

This season, give the gift of grounding, space, and gentle strength. Let’s move into the new light together. 🤍

As the holidays arrive, we’re reminded of how meaningful comfort, safety, and the presence of friends and family truly are. This season is a time to appreciate the communities that support us, and to extend that same care outward.

For Black Friday, we’re offering a special on our 10-Class Pack for $170, and half of all profits from these sales will be donated to the Immigration Defense Project.

The Immigration Defense Project works to protect the rights, safety, and dignity of immigrants facing detention or deportation. They provide legal support, challenge harmful policies, and advocate for fair treatment for individuals and families navigating an overwhelming system.

If you’ve been thinking about joining us or gifting classes to someone you love, now is a chance to do something good for yourself, and for others who deserve the same safety and stability we celebrate this season. This promotion will run from Friday, November 28th to Sunday, December 1st.

You can purchase from our website 🙏🏻✨

👉🏾Teacher Spotlight: Michelle Addo-Chajet 🔥

Michelle is a yoga and pilates instructor based in Brooklyn, New York. She earned her 500-hour yoga certification from Abhaya Yoga under the guidance of Tara Glazier and completed Shieri Shelly Yamafuji’s Mindful Pilates comprehensive mat training in 2024. Her movement practice became consistent in 2010 upon moving to NYC, finding donation-based yoga and pilates classes an accessible way to explore the city. As a teacher, Michelle strives to empower students of all backgrounds to explore the nuance and strengths of their physical and subtle bodies through encouraging, yet technical, practice. With sequences structured around rational progression, students will find an emphasis on alignment and modifications for their unique physicality.

From Michelle 💫
I love starting the week with a bang teaching Rise & Shine Monday mornings and kicking off the weekend with Pilates Friday evening! It’s an honor to teach such a dedicated and diverse community of students at Dou.
