Dou Yoga Neighborhood yoga studio in Brooklyn Dou Yoga’s mission is to create a welcoming space for everyone. The meaning of Dou 道 is “way” in Japanese, the way of yoga.

We feel that yoga is an essential part of creating a healthy and happy community. The idea of Dou is to welcome those in the neighborhood to develop their practice, understand their mind and body and bring its benefits to everyday living.

New Class Alert: Gentle Vinyasa – Prenatal Friendly

A breath-based, alignment-focused gentle flow designed for beginners and those in their prenatal or postnatal journey We move mindfully without weight-bearing plank positions, building strength and stability at a supportive and steady pace.
This class emphasizes grounding, functional alignment, and conscious breathing to help you feel more connected, balanced, and at ease in your body.

Join Hanne Larsen ( ) at Dou Yoga for a community-centered workshop created for queer-identifying chronic cuties.

Over 90 minutes, we’ll check in with ourselves and one another, learn about chronic pain, practice a gentle and supportive yoga sequence, and hold space for reflection. Together, we’ll create a small toolbox of practices to support you moving into the new season.

Held on the Spring Equinox, a moment of balance between light and dark, this gathering invites us to gently emerge from winter, reconnect with our bodies, and nourish ourselves in community.

Above all, we’ll weave joy throughout the evening, because healing is not only about tending to pain, but also making space for ease, connection, and smile.💛

I joined the work-study team in 2021, when I was looking for some in-person structure and community during those early post-pandemic days. Dou immediately felt like a home to me, and over four years later, it’s still one of my favorite places in Brooklyn. It’s such a gift to learn each student’s name and move our bodies together each week, and having time to catch up with the other work-studies and teachers before class is my favorite part of each shift (besides class, of course!). This really is such a safe, special place, and I couldn’t be more grateful to be part of this community!

Marlee discovered yoga in high school while looking for relief from back pain, and found so much more: a space to cultivate mindfulness and connection through movement.

After completing her 200-hour teacher training at Dou with Yuuki Hirano, Kate Lieberman and Shieri Yamafuji, she continued deepening her practice with Yin Yoga training at Heatwise and Yoga Nidra with Vrin Rao after.

Her classes focus on presence, breath, and creating space in both body and mind. Marlee is honored to share the tools she’s gathered on her own yoga journey with our community.

You’ll leave with a toolbox for the winter that we’ve created together. Above all, we will weave joy throughout, as there is no healing without it!

This workshop is a love letter to community: a reassurance that you’re not alone in your experiences. Based on my journey with multiple chronic conditions, I am carving this space out for queer-identifying folks who also have a laundry list of body baggage. Together, we’ll unload that weight, tend to our bodies, and collectively create a toolbox for the winter.
