Yoga is more than movement—it’s a cultural, historical, and liberatory practice.

The Founder of Noir Yoga has published a new essay exploring how we can decolonize, demystify, and deconstruct yoga to create truly inclusive spaces for healing, reflection, and community.

If you’re a leader, educator, or wellness practitioner interested in culturally grounded practices, this piece offers a transformative perspective.

“Decolonizing, Demystifying, and Deconstructing Yoga” explores how yoga can return to its cultural roots while becoming more accessible, inclusive, and liberatory for every body—especially Black and brown communities. At Noir Yoga, we reframe yoga beyond physical poses, honoring its lineage, d...

As the year winds down, we return to our breath, our bodies, and our community. December invites us to slow down, reflect, and move with deeper intention.

D — Deep breaths to close the year with intention
E — Embracing stillness as the city slows down
C — Centering ourselves in community and care
E — Elevating our practice with gratitude and grace
M — Making space for softness and movement
B — Blessings shared on the mat and beyond
E — Enter the new year grounded, open, and aligned
R — Remembering that rest is a sacred practice

At Noir Yoga, we’re closing out 2025 with gratitude for every moment shared—every inhale, every exhale, every connection made on and off the mat.

Join us this month as we honor the beauty of slowing down, finding stillness, and creating space for what’s ahead.

Peace and blessings, always. 🖤

Today is World Mental Health Day — a reminder that your peace matters, your rest is sacred, and your healing is valid.

At Noir Yoga, we believe mental wellness starts with small moments of mindfulness: a deep breath, a grounding pose, a quiet pause between the noise.

🖤 Take a minute to check in with yourself today.✨ How are you really feeling?🌱 What can you release to make space for peace?

As the seasons shift, we’re reminded to slow down, root deeper, and soften into presence. This month, let’s flow with intention:

O – Open heart to receive the season’s wisdom
C – Calm breath to steady the shifting winds
T – Trees rooted, teaching balance and resilience
O – Overjoyed by small moments of presence
B – Body grounds, steady as autumn earth
E – Energy softens with the fading light
R – Rest and reflect, preparing for renewal

Today, Friday, August 1st, marks one year since we first opened the doors of Noir Yoga. 🖤

And one week ago, those same doors were closed due to a devastating leak and flood. The floors were soaked, the walls damaged, and our hearts heavy. But water, in all its force, doesn’t just destroy—it cleanses, purifies, and renews.

Water carves new paths.Water teaches us to surrender.Water reminds us to flow with change—not resist it.

As we mark our first anniversary, we’re holding space for both gratitude and grief. This past year has been full of transformation, community, healing, and powerful movement. And now, with this unexpected pause, we’re being offered a different kind of practice: the practice of trust, patience, and becoming.

Our grand reopening will be more than just returning to practice—it will be a celebration of resilience, rebirth, and the waves that carried us here.

Thank you for flowing with us. The current is strong, and so are we.
