Just completed Birth #196 🎉🎉🎉
Mother was experiencing pre-long labor during the early phase. After she had past 5cm, dilated quick and gave birth like champ!💪🏽
For the past 8 births I’ve supported have all been successful vaginal deliveries!!!!! I’m so proud of all those who’ve I had the honor to support during their birth journey!
Now I can finally relax and be off-call….. for now😅🙃

About a month ago, I attended a birth at #193
I like to pride myself to have a good upper body strength 💪🏽 When this first time Mama was starting to actively push in water. I was braced myself as I always do during the 2nd stage of labor of tag of war. 🪢
I completely got got off guard how extremely strong this Mama was! 😅 I almost got pulled into the water tub myself 🥴
My mind went straight to that scene from “The Matrix.” When Neo was bracing himself to hold on to the falling helicopter. And almost got dragged down with it, lol. It was a great laugh 😆
This Mama was in total control and push her baby girl out safely in water. I’m so proud of her resilience and strength! 💕

Today I had the honor to teach a group of Girl Scouts about understanding their menstrual cycle and personal hygiene during puberty. Creating a safe space for young girls to talk about the changes in their bodies and how to care for themselves.
I enjoy doing things a little differently from birth work. Part of supporting women through pregnancies. Is having younger generation of girls understanding their reproductive organs. From why we get menstrual cycles, how to use pads correctly, what's normal cervical fluids are coming out from our bodies, and how to track periods. Hopefully, they learned and care for their bodies better. I created for each girl an emergency menstrual kit pouch 👝 of essential things necessary to keep in their backpacks.
2 sanitation pads
2 feminine wipes
2 hand sanitizer wipes
They decorated their canvas pouches with drawings and colors.
Let's send out the new generation of girls with more confidence in their health! 💪🏽☺️

Yesterday morning, I’ve completed Birth #189 at with Midwife Nicole. My client, a first timer, meditated throughout her labor. Listening to her body, letting go of fear, embraced the waves 🌊
Got her to the center at 8cm. Labored some more in water. While embracing her partner show pure love and strength. As she efficiently and calmly crowned. In 2 pushes baby arrives into her arms 🥰
No tears, baby latched on, and it was all so lovely. So proud of her quiet strength. A beautiful baby boy born on a beautiful day☀️🙌🏽🎉

Allow me to reintroduce myself....👋🏽
My name is Wendy Cruz-Chan. I'm a Mother of 3 girls. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Speaking fluent Spanish and English. And a bit of Japanese 😅 I've been married to my husband from Hong Kong for over 14 years. I understand full well the Asian culture especially surrounding birth/Postpartum.
I've become a Birth/Postpartum Doula since 2014. Supporting families in all types of births. Hospital, Birthing Centers, Homebirths, waterbirth, unmedicated birth, High-risk pregnancies, teen pregnancies, IVFs, pregnancy loss, infant loss, and abortions.
I'm also a Certified Childbirth Educator, Newborn Care Specialist, Birth Assistant for Homebirths, and Placenta Encapsulator.
So far, I've attended 187 births and counting. 😊
Recently, I signed up to become a Medicaid provider Doula in NYC to continue to serve low-income families. I enjoy meeting and connecting with new families. Guiding them for their new little arrival. By providing evidence-based information, with my unbiased support. I want to help you to make your birth experience better. 💛

This Mama right here, is so resilient and strong! Her labor came on quick! She listened to her body, and what’s comfortable for her as she managed through her powerful contractions without any medical intervention. Sometimes when are body is doing exactly as it should, baby have other plans.
Both Mother and baby are well and thriving! I’m so proud of this family and honored to be part of their birth journey!🥹❤️

Postpartum with visiting and on how they are recovering from birth. She labored for 3 whole days. I’m so proud of for working so hard and tolerating intense contractions. And birthing her baby girl! I’m truly grateful to have work with this beautiful family. ❤️💪🏽

Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mothers I held and witnessed them in their power giving birth to their babies. 💪🏽🫶🏽🙌🏽
Also to the Mothers with Angel babies 👼🏻 know that today is difficult. I see you and I want to send out my heart and love to you all. Please be gentle with yourself. 🤍
Today, I’m called off to another birth for a homebirth. I may be missing out my day with my own babies. But they understand and it’s helpful with my loving husband. 🥰

Last Saturday, this powerful mama gave birth in water to her 2nd baby at the new location in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Such a huge experience she got from her first birth at a hospital with interventions. This time I got to be part of her support team and she rocked her birth all natural! 💪🏽😁💕

Yesterday is at had 3 home births back to back all born safely. And all girls!!!! A new record for us! 🎊🙌🏽😄💕💕💕
