Looking for a way to offer grief support to someone who doesn't want to leave home? Luckily, there are wonderful virtual grief communities offering support right from home!

Here are a couple of options...

"What’s Your Grief"
Website: whatsyourgrief.com
Offers articles, online courses, grief photo challenges, and a supportive community for all types of loss.
➡️ Great for people who prefer reading or solo exploration.

"Option B Community"
Website: optionb.org
Created by Sheryl Sandberg’s team, this platform offers a supportive online space where people share stories and support each other.
➡️ Helpful for navigating all types of loss, trauma, and adversity.

A quick Google search can help you find additional virtual grief resources to fit your needs. Platforms like BetterHelp offer professional grief counseling, though they do require a subscription. Whether you're looking for peer support or one-on-one therapy, there's something out there to meet you where you are. Not everyone can attend in-person support groups, but thankfully, there are meaningful online options available. 💙

Grief can feel isolating, but support is closer than you think. Grief groups provide a safe space to talk, listen, and be heard. 🤝

Many communities offer grief counseling or support groups where people can connect with others who truly understand. If someone you care about is grieving, gently suggesting a local support group can be a powerful act of kindness where they can connect with others and speak on their feelings. These spaces offer room to share, listen, and begin healing without judgment. A simple online search for “grief support near me” is a great place to start!

The last tip we have in this series is that everyone grieves differently. The kindest thing you can do? Ask what support looks like for them. For example... “What do you need today?” or “Would you like company or space?”✨

Of the six ways we shared to support those who are grieving, which was your favorite?

You don’t need the perfect words - just being there can mean everything.

Grief doesn’t need to be fixed. It needs space, patience, and presence. Sometimes, the most powerful support is simply listening… or sitting in silence.

Let them feel what they feel. Your quiet presence speaks volumes. ✨

We all mean well, but some phrases can unintentionally hurt. In moments of grief, words matter, sometimes more than we realize.

Here are a few gentle swaps that offer comfort without minimizing their loss:

💬 Instead of: “They’re in a better place”
🤍 Try: “I’m so sorry. I know how much you loved them.”

💬 Instead of: “At least they lived a long life”
🤍 Try: “It’s never easy to say goodbye, no matter how long we’ve had.”

💬 Instead of: “Everything happens for a reason”
🤍 Try: “I can’t imagine how hard this is. I’m here for you.”

Here is the second way you can help someone who is experiencing grief... Remind them it's alright to feel. Grief can be deeply isolating, but they don’t have to carry it alone. Additionally, let them know it’s not only okay to talk about their loved one, it’s welcome... it shows them their memory still lives on. 💙

As mentioned, this month we will be sharing thoughtful ways you can support someone who is grieving. To start, you don’t have to fix someone's grief, but you can be there to help can lighten the load!

Here are 5 small things that make a big difference:
- Drop off a warm meal or coffee
- Send a simple “Thinking of you” text
- Offer to run an errand (like groceries) or help with chores
- Invite them for a walk
- Leave a care package on their porch

Grief is heavy, but small acts of kindness remind them they’re not carrying it alone. Tag someone who always shows up with quiet strength. 💙
