I teach yoga in my home studio that accommodate both my passions Yoga and Art.
I consider myself a seasoned adult, who is citizen, however I don't embrace the lable senior.
I have medical issues not health problems. "Issues" cause personal annoyances whereas "Problems" can cause others to be affected. You and I are people, not diagnoses. One of my mantras is: A diagnosis is a medical term not a lifestyle.
Live your life not your diagnosis.
Your not going to find many who look like me on the pages of a magazine, you will find people who look like me, in your community, at the market, in the park, and in my studio and in other studios. I am overweight it happen so subtly one day I was 40 in a size 4 and in the blink of an eye I was 60 in a 16, medical issues and treatments are a factor, as well as a vegetarian diet with dairy choices such as gelato and pesto pizza. Perhaps stress is a factor, but mostly, I don't let much harsh my mellow.
I practice as I teach, I listen to my body, and I don't force myself. Adriene Mishler cloned the phrase "Find What Feels Good" later shorting it to "FWFG" I embrace and practice her philosophy and if you're taking a class with me I will remind you to listen to your body, don't force yourself to do anything that causes pain, if you can't go deeper, close your eyes and imagine yourself where you are striving to be while you are mindful of not doing anything that your uncomfortable doing, that causes you pain and doing what feels good. I will give you alternatives to achieve the pose in a gentler manner with props to accommodate your specific needs.
I have studied yoga since I was 14 years old. In my late 40's and through my 50's I obtain several Yoga Certifications, I obtain my 200 hour Hatha Yoga in the Integral Style, I studied Kriya Yoga to obtain certification in Aquatic and Prenatal Yoga, and obtained my 500 hour Certification studing Iyengar Yoga, to round out my education I studied and obtained teaching certification in Ashtanga Yoga, Accessible & Restorative Yoga, Ayurveda, Childrens Yoga, Meditation, Pranayama and Yoga Nidra.
