Richmond Cardiology Associates is excited to welcome Hayley Ginder, NP, to the team. Hayley earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from Indiana University East in Richmond.

Every year, Hayley and her husband put on the Staci Ginder Memorial Golf Outing in memory of her husband’s mother, who lost her battle against breast cancer. The money raised goes to a woman in the community who is currently battling breast cancer and to scholarships for local students.

“I’ll provide my patients with the best care I possibly can – no matter what it takes – all while having a smile on my face! You’ll always have someone you can confide in and trust with me,” Hayley said.

When a Reid team member’s mother-in-law became gravelly ill, there was Danielle Lawson to lift the family’s spirits.

“She shines from the time she greets you, while she works, and even as she exits,” the co-worker said. “She consistently asked, ‘Is there anything more I can do for any of you?’ Her heart and effort emitted love, kindness, and compassion.

“Danielle shone like no other I met during my mother-in-law's lengthy stay!”

And that’s why Lawson is our Ambassador for the month of October.

Lawson has been a member of our Environmental Services team for 13 years. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, she made her way to Richmond and Reid while searching for a better future for her three children.

“Reid has always been very generous with hours and assistance to make my children's lives better with scheduling and financial opportunities that allow me to meet their needs and give them the things they love,” Lawson said.

“I’ve loved working with the nurses, NCAs, students, food and nutrition, and, of course, my fellow environmental team members. I have a great amount of fun interacting with everyone and telling jokes and laughing.”

Your health matters. A mammogram takes only minutes, but its impact can last a lifetime.

Thinking of skipping your mammogram this year? Here’s why you shouldn’t:

✅ Early detection saves lives — Finding breast cancer early means treatment is most effective and outcomes are more favorable.

✅ Consistency is key — Skipping even one annual mammogram can increase your risk. A normal result one year doesn’t guarantee the same the next.

✅ No symptoms doesn’t mean no risk — Mammograms can detect cancer before signs appear—and often find what self-exams miss.

✅ Family history isn’t the whole story — About 80–85% of women diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history, according to the American Cancer Society.

Breast cancer is more common than many people realize as an estimated 316,950 women and 2,800 men in the U.S. will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer this year.

🎗️For more reasons not to delay a mammogram, or to share with a family member, read our blog: https://www.reidhealth.org/blog/mammograms-top-10-reasons-you-might-be-avoiding-them.

🎉 We’re one of America’s Best-In-State Employers for 2025! 🎉

Recipients were selected by Forbes through an independent survey from a vast sample of more than 160,000 U.S. employees working for companies employing at least 500 people within the U.S. More than 2 million employer evaluations were considered.

"We’re honored to receive this recognition and are proud of our incredible team," said Ben Wells, President/CEO for Reid Health. "Our employees are at the heart of everything we do, and this award reflects our ongoing dedication to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered.

“To provide the very best care possible to those who entrust us with their health, we have to first take care of our team members. We believe when our employees thrive, our patients thrive, and this recognition is a testament to that philosophy."

Reid Health Comprehensive Bone & Joint Center is excited to welcome Orthopedic Sports Surgeon Connor Hoban, MD, to the team. Dr. Hoban earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and completed his orthopedic surgery residency and a surgical sports medicine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio.

During his fellowship, he worked as a member of a team that cared for everyone from professional to recreational athletes and has experience working with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Guardians, Cleveland State University, and Kent State University.

“My grandfather inspired me to go into medicine. He served as a combat medic specialist for the U.S. Army 78th Infantry Division during World War II. From a young age, I always wanted to follow in his footsteps and care for people who are injured. I confirmed my life goal was to become a surgeon during my sophomore year of high school and never looked back,” Dr. Hoban said.

“Above all, I love getting people back to what they’re passionate about. I take immense pride in my medical and surgical training and believe I learned from the most technically skilled and clinically thoughtful mentors in the country. It’s an honor to carry forward their legacy while taking care of people in our community.”

Across the country, only two in five employers each year meet the standards for Mental Health America’s (MHA) Bell Seal certification, which recognizes organizations that are committed to creating mentally healthy workplaces.

This year, we’re one of them!

MHA is the nation’s leading community-based nonprofit dedicated to promoting mental health, well-being, and illness prevention. MHA has spent decades researching mental health in the workplace and introduced the Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health in 2019 to recognize organizations that value and implement policies and practices that support employee mental health and well-being.

“We’re committed to providing the best for our team, and we look forward to continuing our work to ensure they receive the support they need to provide the highest-quality care possible for the communities we serve,” said Randi Whitesel, our Director of Occupational Medicine/Employee Wellness.

There’s more about the Bell Seal and how we support our employees’ mental health at https://www.reidhealth.org/press-releases/reid-health-awarded-mental-health-americas-bell-seal-for-workplace-mental-health.
