My patients and students always ask, “How often should I do “X” or “Y” to feel better?”

Here’s what I tell them, “Do these 1-3 things throughout your day everyday” Translation “Do a little, often”

Why?

Taking a simple, small, doable step towards your goal on a consistent basis helps:
✅Your nervous system settle, making you feel safe and the results last
✅You find time to do it within your schedule which means you’ll be more likely to follow through
✅Give you time practice and learn the exercise, self massage, reframed thought, emotional regulation technique
✅Appreciate how you feel before and after you’ve implemented it
✅You assess when/if you need a change, an advancement, or have hit your goal

All these small steps add up without shaking your foundation, encouraging you to keep going when you see just how doable taking care of you and making a change really is. That, combined with the results you feel, will carry you forward even when the road gets bumpy or seems long.

Next time you want to make a change in your life and are overwhelmed, remember

“Do a little and do it often”

All that you experience in this world as a human being happens within and through your body.

Joy. Heartache. Anxiety. Love. Passion. Hunger. Pleasure. Emotional Distress. Pain. Loss. Grief. Shame. Guilt. Compassion. Success. Failure. Transition. Fear. Worry. Excitement. Awe. Contentment. Anger. Surrender. Control. Trust.

They’re felt through your senses, your skin, fascia, muscles, organs, and bones. Sometimes you know what to do with them and sometimes you don’t. When you don’t, they get stuck like a traffic jam or roadblock in a stream leading to dis - ease and if stuck long enough, disease.

This world would have you believe that your “cup” can only be full or empty.

I’m here to ask you: Could it be both?

I used to think that if things weren’t going well then life was bad and if they were going well then life was good. I applied the same thought process to my schedule. If it wasn’t full or I wasn’t checking off the “To do” boxes, the day was a failure and if it was full (or overly full) then I was good or the day was successful. Sound familiar?

The thing is this simply isn’t true.

All the challenges you face are part of life. They show you where the light is in the dark spaces, the joy and preciousness of life that exists even when everything seems to be crashing down around you. They’re there to help you grow.

Just as the joyful moments, rest breaks, and play during a day help to open up your creativity. Leading to more success in whatever you are doing, no matter how you measure it.

Life isn’t about being empty or full. It’s about finding harmony and balance between the two.

When you find that, you become whole. You find your center, the place you return to over and over when you’re out of balance. The place where you get back to being You.

Sure there will still be days that are “full” or “empty”, but now you’ll be able to appreciate what that feels like, remember the other half, and find your way back into balance, back to You.

So I’ll ask again, is your Cup…

Whether that fight is a personal battle you are working through or one that you feel called to support out in the world, have courage.

Use that courage to honor yourself and your feelings. To work through the emotions that come in a healthy and cathartic way.

Take time in the liminal spaces to let things settle so you can see your way forward. Tap into the energy of unconditional love that’s there to support you as you do.

When you’re ready, channel the energy of your emotions into creative action that will bring about positive change.

Breathe in, Breathe out with the intention of returning to your center, the place where you know what’s true. Remember you are not alone. You are part of something greater, filled with infinite possibilities.

Whatever you do, don’t ever give up. On yourself, your dreams, your passions, what you believe in. Let go of what is in your way and hold onto what will get you through.

Call on the light that burns bright within you. Continue to be who you are and do what you do.

Life is a precious gift. One that sometimes gets lost in the busy-ness of our day and yet when you are asked to pause and take in a moment, all of the busy seems to fade away. Replaced by the joy, laughter, warmth, or awe of what is happening right where you are.

Take time during this season (and every day really) to pause. Be in the moment that is happening right in front of you even though some part of you feels the tug to get back to your to do list.

Feel the sun on your face. The warmth of an embrace. The sound of the birds dancing from place to place.

Cherish the laughter of a child or the words of a friend. Get caught up in the silliness of play with your pet. Marvel at the changing colors of the leaves in the trees.

Simply stop, take a breath, and be exactly where you are, even if it’s only for a moment.

Allow that energy to soak in. Savor it. Invite it to be with you as you go about your day. Call on it when you need it on a rainy day.

Take time in this season of Awe-tumn to embrace the beauty of being alive that is all around you. Take time for you and remember all those that came before & that helped you get here too.

The desire for connection and community is an innate trait. One that comes to life in infancy and transforms as you grow into who you are meant to be. One that is molded by all the people you meet along the way.

Some come into your life and stay for just a moment. Some for a day, a week, a month or two. And some are with you your whole life through.

All of them are there to share something with you. It may be a lesson you need to learn, one they’re there to teach or help you through. It may be an idea or the inspiration you needed to start something new. Or they may be there to challenge you.

To have you pause and reflect, and ask yourself..
Is whatever I’m doing true to who I am at my core?
Am I going in the right direction? My direction?
Is this relationship, situation, etc still serving my best interest?
Am I choosing this for me or for someone else?

Helping you to learn through these answers who you are at this moment, in this particular season of your life. To work through the patterns and habits that may be holding you back. To bless and release the people, relationships, jobs, situations that you no longer need.

And hold onto who you are at your core. Surrounded by those that love and support you unconditionally.

As you work through the process, remember the trees who move through Autumn dropping their leaves. It begins with the beauty of change, colors so bright. Then they drop a few here and a few there, it doesn’t have to happen overnight.

Move at your own pace, taking in the beauty of each phase. Pausing to, breathe and be through the day. Letting go when you’re ready to go on your way.

Metal is the element associated with Autumn & the emotions Grief, Courage, and Awe (as in the beauty & wonder of being alive).

Metal often stirs up images of alchemy, of transforming one element into another, leaving behind its old form so it can be reborn anew.

You experience this process regularly as you work through things like starting a new job, losing a loved one, moving to a new house, entering a new phase in your life or watching someone in your family do so, and so on. Even if the change will lead to a positive outcome, there is still a period of loss which brings forward the emotion of grief.

Letting go is Hard y’all, and Grief takes on many forms, as we are all unique & beautiful beings. There is no right way to work through it. Below are some things that can help you along the way.

While moving through the alchemical transformation of Metal,

🤍Remembering that you are still You at your core, no matter what happens. Let the light, that is often part of the process, illuminate the memories that will comfort you and the good in the change that is happening too.

🤍Have the courage to hold or allow yourself to be held through the heart ache for as long as it takes. And when you’re ready, call on that same courage to help you begin again on your journey.

🤍Take time to remember how good it feels to be Alive, to be Here in this moment. Appreciate the little things like the sound of a friend’s voice, your child’s smile, snuggling with a pet, or the appearance of a rainbow on a rainy day.

🤍Invite the emotions to flow, as you work through holding and letting go. Return to your breath within your body to help you feel steady.

Move at your own pace, asking your body, your heart how fast or slow. Know that you can put the process down, rest for a time, and pick it up again. Use these little moments to help you return to yourself and keep going along your alchemical journey.

I am a mother, healthcare professional, and energy medicine practitioner.

I am passionate about helping you get in touch with your inner wisdom, or inner healer if you will, discover the root of your pain, remember how to trust yourself, and support you as you heal so you can return to being yourself.

I believe that healing is a personal journey. One that is unique to you, is a collaboration between you and your practitioner, and challenges you to see yourself with curiosity and compassion along the way when you might feel the complete opposite.
