You are born knowing exactly who you are, what your soul’s purpose is, and how your essence makes that purpose unique.

And then life happens and you try on different identities, jobs, hats or layers; living among your families, peers, and society.

It’s all part of the experience of being human.

The good news is, it doesn’t matter how far you get from your center, your true self. You can always find your way back home.

The map is written in your energy blueprint and your DNA. It’s with you all the time, you just need the space, time, and sometimes, help to access it so you can see where you are and how to get there.

Myofascial work, SomatoEmotional release, and Qigong are beautiful ways to access your map, as they help you work through physical, emotional, and mental blocks that obscure your vision. Blocks that you might be experiencing as pain, brain fog, overwhelm, anger, anxiety, fatigue, indecision, or a scattered feeling.

These are three modalities that I use in my one on one sessions and group classes to help my clients listen to their bodies, release their discomfort, and find their way back to their map so they can get back to being their true, authentic selves.

This technique is one that everyone needs in their self care tool kit as the ability to self soothe is essential.

The beauty of this practice is that you don’t have to know where the energy or emotions that you’re clearing are coming from, all you have to do is set the intention to brush them away. It’s gentle and can be done at any time, anywhere. You can even brush off one part of your body that is feeling overwhelmed instead of going through the whole process.

A few things to remember as you’re learning,
The intention is key.
You can do this sitting, standing or even lying down (using visualization to brush the back side of your body.
Fill that area with new energy after. You can simply put your hand over it with the intention to do so.

Qigong is a movement practice that’s designed to help you return to your true nature by releasing tension & stagnant, some would say toxic, energy; connecting to the energy of heaven and earth; listening to what you need; and nourishing your body, mind, and soul, leaving you with a renewed sense of peace.

In Chinese medicine it is an essential part of self care and healing. Passed down from generation to generation, qigong teaches you how to cultivate health and vitality throughout your life, even in the midst of a storm.

It has been a gift within my own life and I am honored to be able to share it with you.

Sometimes you need to move in order to see your way through, even if you feel stuck in place where you are.

Movement helps you digest the thoughts that are running through your mind, your creative and logical parts of your brain talk to one another, clear pathways and roadblocks so your emotions do what they’re meant to do - inform you and move on, and allows your mind, body, and soul to hear each other so you can get back to being you!

This form works with the liver and gallbladder, the organs of spring that help you plan, work through the muck that you get stuck in, find creative ways that you’d never think of to get where you want to go, and GO - or take action!

Practice 9 reps on each side or as many as you feel you need to get where you want to. Let me know how it goes in the comments below!!

Isn’t it amazing that your body helps you digest more than just the food you eat?! Everything is energy and the organs of your body help you process it without you even realizing it.

What’s even more amazing is that you can do simple things like this movement practice to help yourself and your body do so in less than a minute!

Next time you find yourself feeling overwhelmed by a decision, a big meal, an emotional experience, something you read or heard or saw somewhere, or thoughts that just won’t quit, try this qigong form.

Your power doesn’t come from being the strongest, most aggressive, or richest person in the room.

Your power comes from the ability to rest back into your center, allowing you to respond in a calm, clear, compassionate way to what’s in front of you whether it’s your world or the world that’s in chaos.

Power that’s unchecked or depleted looks like anger, reactivity, or hyperactivity and feels scattered, disconnected, shaky, or uneasy. These are signs from your body that you need something. Something that will settle you back within and restore you.

That might look like a nap, a call to a friend/loved one/helper, stepping away from whatever’s in front of you, eating something nourishing, doing something creative, practicing qigong, or being held in a safe space. Ask your body - they know and will be happy to share.

Remember your power comes from within. It is clear, compassionate, strong in a steady non rigid way, calm, and has clear boundaries.

It’s in the space between all the “things”, the space you need and give yourself that healing happens and creativity blooms.

Whether you are feeling ill or like your project is stalled, give yourself space. Nurture yourself within it. Restore your energy in a way that nourishes your soul, even if its just for a few minutes. And then notice what unfolds after.

Growth isn’t about always doing. You, as a human, need some time to be too.

Take some time for yourself as you become who you are meant to be.

Compassion is the virtue of Spring, quite appropriately so as it is a transitional season of growth that can often bring with it challenges and frustrations.

Use this practice when the world becomes or asks too much of you to give the compassion that you so easily give to others, to yourself.

When your cup is full, you can continue the practice and offer the phrases to:

A loved one
Someone you are acquainted with, but hold no attachment to
A difficult person or situation in your life
All beings in the world

Remember, growth does not happen overnight, but it will happen. In the meantime, pause and show yourself some compassion for where you are and all that you have done thus far.

Coming back to my roots with this one! When life throws a wrench in your plans and emotions rise up, put that energy to good use - Dance It Out!!

Dancing, or any movement that engages your hips and rotates your body stimulates your liver and gallbladder meridians. They are the organs that help you process anger and frustration, get clear and see the other options when the plans go awry, and help you take action.

It’s a healthy and fun way to free yourself from the negativity so you can move forward or at the least, get back to being you!!

Spring is the season of uprising, action oriented energy that drives our plans and calls us to step forward. When plans go awry, emotions run high.

This gentle movement gives those emotions somewhere to go so they don’t get stuck inside you, brings you back to your center as you connect to the earth through your seat and your feet, and calms your nervous system as you rock side to side.

It also provides a gentle stretch and glide to the fascia along the liver and gallbladder meridians, the organs associated with spring that keep your energy flowing smoothly and put those plans into action.

Try this anytime you have one of “those” days, feel the frustration or angry rise, or just need to clear your mind.
