INTRODUCING A NEW MENTAL HEALTH ADVOCACY NETWORK
The nine founding members of the Mental Health Advocacy Network of Colorado (MHANCO), including the five current Board members, (C. Blair Skinner, Chan Timmons, Lizzy Wagner, Lisa Griffiths, and Tisha Jackson) are excited to announce our public launch.
MHANCO was formed to bring together providers (e.g., individual, small and large group practice), advocates, and community members across Colorado to strengthen our collective, collaborative voice and advance policies that improve access to mental health care for everyone.
We will keep you informed on the most relevant and important things that affect your work while also allowing you the opportunity to focus on the things that matter most. One of our early successes highlights the impact of coordinated regular advocacy made possible by our lobbyists, 3015 Policy (Camille Driver) and Impact Public Affairs (Susanna Mizer). Our MHANCO lobbyists are policy experts and have played a key role in ensuring that Medicaid Regional Accountable Entities (RAEs) are not legally able to require prior authorizations for outpatient mental health services by preventing the repeal of SB 22-156. This is a critical step forward in removing barriers and making care more accessible when people need it most.
Our lobbyists also were instrumental in introducing the AI bill - HB 26-1139 and continue to lobby for its success. Find out more about how these things were accomplished by reviewing our website (below). This is just the beginning. We’re committed to continuing the work of protecting access, advancing equity, and shaping a stronger mental health system for all Coloradans.
