Raining Faith Massage

Raining Faith Massage I work with acute pain, chronic pain, injury prevention and recovery massage with athletes. Some are athletes while others are striving for better health.

I also create self-massage videos to help clients stay healthy away from the massage table. I maintain a private practice working with clients from 9 to 81 years of age. I also create videos on self-massage. Many of these are geared toward cyclists, runners, triathlete and endurance athletes. But you'll also find videos to help you in everyday life regarding posture and office ergonomics.

Here is an excellent photo illustrating how both the calf muscles and hamstrings cross the knee joint to flex the knee. At the back of the knee you can see the medial and lateral heads of gastrocnemius. Just to the outside of those beefy tendons you see the long, thing tendons of the hamstrings.

If you're a muscle geek you might just love this photo!

Today was a good day. Ever since the pandemic began my gravest concern was potentially infecting a client. Today I took the first step toward lessening that possibility greatly.

The past ten months have taught me a tremendous amount. I have repeatedly said that if you haven't learned something from all of this you've missed out on a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Because of Covid I began working in different capacities. One day a week I now work with clients who have spinal cord injuries at a wonderful facility in Thornton called NeuAbility. Two other days a month I work with an adult who has Cerebral Palsy that lives in a long term group home.

At the encouragement of two clients who are professionals in the medical field I was able to inquire and get on the list for the vaccination for Covid-19. Normally, because of my health and age I would have been at the back of the bus.

I'm grateful for this opportunity, grateful to roll up my sleeve, grateful to make my world of massage therapy safer for my clients.

Hi friends. I recently began doing massage one day a week with folks who have spinal cord injuries. This is Medicaid billing and the organization is NeuAbility. They offer an open gym, exercise physiologists, trainers, acupuncturists, chiropractic and massage therapy.

In our current world this has been a positive outlet for me once a week. I work with the same seven people and it's encouraging to implement a weekly treatment plan and literally feel soft tissue improvement for overworked muscles due to their injuries. The clients sleep better, have less pain and enjoy a community that supports them in their recovery.

NeuAbility is having a field day fund raiser this month and has had to improvise due to Covid19. I hope that you would thoughtfully consider making a donation on my fundraising page to assist NeuAbility so they can continue to offer services to this population that benefits so greatly from this facility.

Thank you!

Matt

It's reassuring to read this. It's hard to find a substitute for daily exercise, good nutrition and quality sleep. Healthy, supportive relationships are helpful in staying on track, because, yes, it's hard work staying healthy. But it's worth it.

Detox diets may do more harm than good. Our clinicians share tips for feeling healthier — no juice cleanse required.

We're into the third week of massage. I'm happy to show off zinnias. Things are going well and it's wonderful to touch people again.

I have a few notes to share from early observations.

Be sure that you have a mask that fits well. A good fitting mask that you aren't touching is better than a mask that has many "layers". You might find a surgical mask to be more comfortable for your time on the table than a homemade mask. A behind the ear mask is going to work better than a tie behind mask as I can access your neck better.

I'm opening up my scheduler to allow 90 minute appointments.

Also, I've integrated the Covid-19 release into the scheduler. There is an option to fill that out electronically so it is in my system. With all of the added waste around cleaning, I'm happy to at least do away with a hard copy of the release.

Mainly, massage has been great. I'm liking the changes and things are going smoothly. I had a great conversation with Broomfield County Health a few weeks ago. I was able to speak with a nurse and epidemiologist and they were helpful with reopening safely.

Schedule in and I hope to see you soon. My zinnias are waiting for you!

After four and a half months of Covid closure I have begun re-opening. The time away was not wasted. It allowed me to rest, learn new things, explore vocational options and evaluate my life experience.

Though the pandemic continues ro rage, I move forward with courage and excitement, feeling renewed and ready to serve.

In the course of preparing to open this opportunity came my way. Here is part of my business story.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Gibble. Matthew, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today. I first began working in massage therapy as a cyclist in the early 1980’s. In 1987 I had my first real gig working for …

Well, in our world things are still a mess. However, I'm doing my best to keep things safe for you and for me. I'm reopening August 3rd. Read below about how your massage will look going forward.

Thank you for your extreme patience during these past months. I appreciate your understanding and incredible support as I've navigated the course of running a massage therapy business in the midst of a pandemic.

I'm beginning to get client requests for self-help as the no-massage situation gets longer.

This is a helpful video that hasn't gotten many views. If you are having achy feet from walking, running, hiking right now this is an easy, short self-care tool. Any foam roller will work, and I prefer this over a lacrosse or tennis ball for the feet.

It works especially well after activity and first thing in the morning.

So there is a reason I'm learning new levels of patience, because it's a weird, crazy world and few know what is going on. In case you're wondering, Massage Therapy will not be open on April 27th. I just got the following email. I'll put together an email for my clients tomorrow stating what my plans are for my business, which are not determined by what the politicians are doing and saying.

Colorado COVID-19 State Update – Do not open on April 27!

ABMP Government Relations was just on a phone call this morning, April 23, 2020, with Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) executives and one of Governor Polis's advisors. We received communication from DORA that massage therapists and cosmetologists should NOT reopen on April 27, 2020. There will be more guidance coming from the state on April 27, 2020.

We had a good conversation about what the new normal will look like in Colorado for massage therapists and cosmetologists. ABMP and ASCP realize that you may be in a financially unstable situation, and that there is a fine line between going back to work and ensuring your safety and the safety of your clients.

We feel the state was receptive to our recommendations and concerns. Now that communication lines with DORA and the Governor's office have been opened, we feel we will receive better communication moving forward. Please let us know if you have any questions at gr@abmp.com. We will update you as soon as we hear of anything. We appreciate your membership. Stay safe and well.

Who misses this view? It's been two weeks since I've seen clients. We're looking at 4-5 weeks before massage therapists might work again in Colorado. That is best case scenario.

Touch and social interaction is hugely vital to society. How are you trying to fill the void?

I've spent more time on the phone with friends and family. One day I was lying on a blanket, eyes closed with the sun warming my eyelids. I tried to identify each sound I heard; from a rustle of a leaf to a distant siren.

What are you learning during this time?

Status of Raining Faith Massage

Dear Clients,

I hope you are all well and healthy. After serious consideration and consulting with others in my profession I have made the decision to suspend my practice through at least April 3, 2020.

If you have an appointment between now and then consider your appointment canceled but not rescheduled. If you have recurring appointments on the books, they are still scheduled and I am not making changes to those appointments after April 3rd.

I have currently disabled the online scheduler so you will not be able to schedule online until I determine it is safe for me to practice and for you to receive massage therapy. Very likely, the first appointments when I resume the practice will be by old fashioned telephone and will involve screenings.

I'm making decisions based upon your safety and my safety. There is much we do not know about Covid-19 but we are all learning a lot every day. I highly recommend consulting the CDC site daily and following their advice about Covid-19. I will be very cautious and deliberate in my decisions regarding the future of the practice. There are roughly 12,500 massage therapists in the state of Colorado. That is a lot of potential contamination. I'm taking a leadership role among my profession and stating that I do not recommend receiving massage therapy during this period of time. It does not warrant to the risk to our community.

If you are a client over the age of 65, are immuno-compromised or just are nervous about going out I would like to be of help to you. I'm willing to do your shopping, run your errands, get your medication, whatever I can do to make life safe for you right now. Please contact me if you need help.

Upon resuming my practice I will not be taking any new clients so that I can serve the "tribe" of Raining Faith Massage first and foremost. Be assured that we will get through this and that first massage back on my table will be a place of healing, safety and love for each and every one of you.

Now is a time to tell people that we love them. I love each and every one of you. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you and I look forward to seeing each of you in the near future.

I'll send emails in the coming days, weeks with my thoughts, self-care tips and how you can stay healthy with all the changes occurring in our communities. Be safe, be healthy, be patient and be loved.

I went for a walk yesterday and came upon this. It gave me the hope that I needed. I'm in the process of creating my plan for my business. This has caused me to take some deep breaths.

Look for an email about my strategy and when you can expect to be back on my table. Please like, comment and share this post.

If you are a client who is over 65 or immuno compromised please allow me to do your shopping, run your errands or cook your meals. I'm here to serve. I love you all immensely. We'll get through this.
