As the holidays approach, many of us notice our stress and emotions running higher than usual. One concept that can help make sense of this is the Window of Tolerance — the zone where we can manage stress and emotions effectively. When we’re outside this window, we might feel either hyperaroused (anxious, agitated, restless) or hypoaroused (numb, disconnected, exhausted).
Here are 3 tools to help stay within your window during this busy season:
1️⃣ Grounding Techniques – Engage your senses: notice what you see, hear, touch, smell, and taste in the moment.
2️⃣ Breathwork – Slow, deep breathing can help regulate your nervous system when you feel overwhelmed.
3️⃣ Movement or Stretching – Gentle activity can help release tension and bring you back into balance.
Remember: noticing when you’re moving outside your window is the first step toward managing stress more effectively.

Brainspotting can be a meaningful tool for clients who feel ‘stuck’ in trauma, anxiety, or emotional patterns. By using specific eye positions to access the brain’s natural processing systems, it helps release stored stress in a safe, contained way.
At Wellminded Counseling, Adam Davis, LPC, offers Brainspotting for clients seeking deeper healing. Reach out anytime to schedule with Adam if this approach resonates with you.

WellMinded Counseling wants to help our community that will be impacted by SNAP not being funded. One way we want to encourage you all to joining us by donating to https://www.coloradogives.org/donate/BroomfieldFISH

As the owner I have volunteered there, donated there, and have personally connected with the lovely team that works there and they are doing incredible things to support the Broomfield community that have food insecurity and need housing assistance.

If you want to donate food directly to them you can drop off items using the EAST SIDE donation door on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8 am – 4:30 pm and Thursdays from 8 am – 12 pm. Just be sure to find someone to weigh in your donation and record it at our kiosk. Located at
6 Garden Center
Broomfield, CO 80020
If you do not need a receipt, you can drop off non-perishables in the bins at any Broomfield King Soopers!

WellMinded Counseling will be holding a food drive. Stay tuned for details.

WellMinded Counseling will also be "Adopting a Self" for a monthly contribution to support our community.
