Mystic Mae initially came to rehab because it was believed she had pituitary dwarfism. She spent a lot of time hospitalized as a very young puppy as she wasn't growing. After a lot of testing, it was determined she likely suffered a brain injury within her first few days of life, which impacted her initial growth.Ā

Now she's 6 months old and has long lanky legs that make it hard to believe she's a Dachshund mix, and she's no longer showing signs of pain. However, due to her developmental delay, she is still going to benefit from strengthening and making sure she can stand with proper postural alignment. She is going to continue to come in for FIT, but no longer needs to see us on the rehab side.

Meet Quin (left) and Chaos (right)! These boys are 4 months apart in age and both have MPLs. Quin has some pain and lameness in his LHL and a collapsing trachea. Chaos has been maintaining well overall but their owner would like to keep him in good strength and shape to minimize the risk of surgery. They did great for their eval. Quin was happy only his brother had to do the UWTM and not him. šŸ˜„

Rainier came to CRCG for TPLO rehab for both knees last year. He recovered well and had been back to normal activity. A couple weeks ago, his owners noticed a change in his gait and some increased discomfort in his back after he took off excitedly on a walk. They wanted to get him evaluated to assess what might be the cause; most signs point to his iliopsoas. He was very happy and excited to be back today!

It's Veterinary Receptionist Week, so let's give some extra love to our front desk staff! They are the voices you hear on the phone, the first faces you see when you come in, and the last you see on your way out the door. They swim dogs, maintain equipment, and do so many other unseen tasks that often go unrecognized. This week and every week, you are appreciated!

Shiva is a 3.5 year old cattle dog mix who came in today. He was unable to stand when he first went home, so he had Juvenile P***c Symphysiodesis when he was a puppy. Juvenile p***c symphysiodesis (JPS) is a type of surgery that helps address hip dysplasia, preventing effects that otherwise develop over time, such as arthritis and reduced mobility.

However, he has never been able to walk completely normally. He overdid it a few weeks ago and hurt himself trying to jump, so his family brings him in to help him build strength and stability to reduce future injuries.

Harlow is an adorably sweet Basset/Beagle mix! She's been struggling with weight despite her parents' best efforts to promote weight loss, so they have brought her to rehab for assistance and guidance. The UWTM will be a very beneficial tool to get her active in a low-impact manner and build her strength in the process.

Bensley is a 3 year old Labrador coming into rehab because he’s been looking stiff after certain activities. He overall is moving well, but his symptoms could suggest a partial CCL tear or iliopsoas strain. We will manage pain in his knee and hip and build up strength so that he can get back to swimming!

This is Maxwell! He's 11 and has recently had a decline in mobility. He was diagnosed with idiopathic vestibular disease and OA in his spine, hips, and L stifle, and has lost muscle mass. Because of his vestibular disease he has a hard time staying upright and walking independently so will benefit from rehab to improve his strength, proprioception, and balance. We got him suited with a harness today which was already helpful to him and his owners, and we plan to get him a wheelchair so he can safely get back to enjoying walks with his pawrents! Mobility may be challenging right now, but he's still very happy and active when he can be!
