Every year, millions of people worldwide are impacted by su***de. Today, we pause to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and remind each other that hope and help are always possible.

It is important to remember that asking for and accepting help takes strength. Seeking support does not mean you are weak.

A common myth is that if you call 988, the police or an ambulance will immediately be sent to your home. This is not true. When you call for support, you will be connected with trained professionals who are there to assist you.

Please also make sure your children are aware of this, as returning to school can bring on various stressors.

A successful school year starts with more than supplies. Mental health and substance misuse support can make a big difference for students and educators.

Self care is important. Take a break from the news, social media, or newspapers if needed. It can be overwhelming and traumatizing to continuously expose ourselves to the devastating events going on in Texas. Instead of being consumed with news stories, think of something you can do. Pray. Gather items to donate. Reach out and spend extra time with loved ones. Anything healthy to distract yourself. It is never healthy to be consumed with the news 24/7.

Priority Psychiatric Services is assisting with the flood relief drive. Please drop off any items on the list and we will deliver them to Bead Busters. We are located at 805 Albertsons Parkway Suite A, Broussard, La. Items will be collected Monday - Thursday 8am - 4:30pm.

Together we can make a difference in assisting our neighbors In Texas.
