Blackfeet Tribal Behavioral Health’s Walk for Life: Breaking the Stigma
Where: Heart Butte
When: Tuesday, September 16, 2025
What time: @ 6:00 PM
Starting at the Post Office and Walking to the Church
Tomorrow night, we come together in Heart Butte for our Walk for Life: Breaking the Stigma. This walk is about more than the miles we cover, it’s about who and what we carry with us. We walk to honor those who are still here today. We walk to stand with families who have lost loved ones to su***de. We walk to recognize the pain and struggle that still lives in our community. And we walk to build connection, hope, and resiliency for the future.
This is a time to gather as one community; to say out loud that healing is possible, and that no one should ever feel alone in their journey. If you have lost a loved one to su***de, we invite you to bring a photo to carry with you on the walk. Together, we’ll honor their lives and their memory.
We also want to lift up our veterans. The number comes from the 2023 National Veteran Su***de Prevention Annual report which show the national average of su***des per day is 17. While that number dropped from the average of 22 per day in 2016, one su***de is too many. Join us tomorrow as we honor their service and remember those we have lost. In recognition of this, we have shirts available for the first 22 participants after that, we invite all families, relatives, and community members to walk alongside us as one.
We want to encourage our tribal programs to come out, stand together, and walk with us. When we connect, we heal. When we gather, we grow stronger. And when we walk side by side, we remind one another that we are never alone. Let’s walk together for those we have lost, for those still struggling, and for the generations yet to come
