Please keep the family in prayer during this time.
Walter Leon Trowbridge, age 89, born on January 30, 1936, in Ewing, Indiana, departed from this world on June 1, 2025, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, Indiana, leaving behind a rich tapestry of memories woven through the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. A devoted Christian, Walter lived his life with an unwavering faith and a profound love for the Lord, a guiding light that shaped his every action.

Walter was a man of many talents and interests. He embraced life with a hard-working spirit, endlessly adventurous, and a genuine love for humanity. The essence of Walter was captured perfectly in his title of “Walking Eagle,” bestowed upon him by a North Dakota Indiana Tribe, a testament to his vibrant storytelling prowess. Whether recounting tales of his fishing escapades, the thrill of building rat rods, or racing through life’s uncertainties, his stories rippled with humor and warmth, illuminating even the cloudiest days.

Proudly serving his country in the United States Army, Walter demonstrated unwavering dedication and commitment—qualities that shone brightly in his relationships with family and friends. He was not just a “people person”; he was the very embodiment of friendship, embodying generosity and kindness towards both known and unknown acquaintances. Conversations with Walter were never mundane; instead, they were lively exchanges filled with laughter, soul-stirring tales, and heartfelt advice.

Walter leaves behind a devoted family who will carry forward his legacy of love. He is survived by his son, Tim Trowbridge of Springville, Indiana; daughters, Tammy Trowbridge of Seymour, Indiana, and Kimberly Jones of Florida; his sister, Georgia Reeves and her husband Everett of Wellsboro, Indiana; and seven cherished grandchildren who will undoubtedly continue to share his vibrant spirit.

In deep sorrow yet with warm memories, we also remember those who have gone before him: his father, Walter Trowbridge; his mother, Edna Lambert Trowbridge; his beloved wife, Sharlene Byrd Trowbridge; his son, Terry Trowbridge; his brothers, Roy Curtis and Ronnie Trowbridge; and his grandson, Bryant Picou. Their absence will be felt deeply, yet their spirits are forever intertwined with Walter’s enduring legacy.

Visitation will be held on June 6, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 at Christensen Family Funeral Home - Winklepleck Chapel located at 320 N. High Street, Brownstown, Indiana. He will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery.

As we bid farewell to Walter Leon Trowbridge, we are reminded of the vibrancy he brought into our lives, a spark that will continue to shine brightly within the hearts of all who had the honor to know him. May his adventures and everlasting stories live on through every shared memory, and may we find comfort in the love he so generously bestowed upon us.
