As of today, Haywood County EMS is proudly continuing our mission by focusing on calls throughout the county. While the city coverage has transitioned, our commitment hasn’t changed — we remain fully staffed, fully prepared, and fully dedicated to providing exceptional pre-hospital care to the people of Haywood County.

We’ve been doing this for over 50 years, and we’re not slowing down anytime soon.

It’s already been a busy day, and our crews have hit the ground running — not only responding throughout the county, but also assisting with calls inside the city limits when the need arose.

Wherever we’re needed, we’re there. 🚑💜

🚨 Exciting Leadership Announcement from Haywood County EMS! 🚨

We are proud to officially welcome Dustin McKeel as the new Director of Haywood County EMS starting August 11th!

Dustin brings with him a total of 17 years of experience in Emergency Medical Services, including 5 years of critical flight experience with Hospital Wing. Throughout his career, Dustin has shown unwavering dedication to patient care, clinical excellence, and the advancement of EMS as a whole.

He is a licensed Critical Care Paramedic (CCP)— one of the highest certifications a paramedic can achieve. These qualifications reflect not only his advanced medical knowledge, but also his ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure, life-saving situations.

Dustin has served in nearly every role in EMS, and that wide-ranging experience gives him a unique perspective as a leader. He understands the demands of the job — from long shifts and tough calls, to teamwork, training, and the heart it takes to serve your community every day.

We’re excited to have his guidance, vision, and professionalism as we continue to grow and evolve as a department. Under his leadership, we look forward to raising the bar for EMS in Haywood County and continuing to provide the highest level of care to the citizens we serve.

We want to take a moment to sincerely thank our Haywood County Commissioners for the confidence and trust you continue to place in us. Your backing has been clear and steady, and it fuels our determination to make this ambulance service thrive and grow stronger every day.

To the citizens of Haywood County — both inside the city limits and throughout the county — we see you, we serve you, and we’re proud to do it. While we may not remain your contracted EMS provider in some areas, that doesn’t change who we are or what we stand for. We are still here for you — any call, any time, no matter what. We just would hate to see that the level of care able to be provided by Haywood County EMS be substituted with anything less. At Haywood County EMS we carry lifesaving medications and equipment that most other EMS providers do not. We carry Ventilators, IV pumps for precise and accurate medication delivery, Antibiotics, and soon will be carrying life saving blood to be administered in the field. The only thing that saves a life in a major trauma sometimes is Time, Transport and Blood. It has been proven that with the administration of Blood in the field that is the only chance of survival when administered immediately and on scene.

We remain grounded, focused, and proud. The decisions made won’t stop us from pushing forward and providing the level of care you deserve. In fact, they only make us stronger. We will continue to be the standard others measure by.

• Serving Haywood County since 1972 — and we’ve never closed our doors a single day.
• We run close to 4,000 calls a year, and that number is expected to rise with the exciting growth from Ford’s Blue Oval City on the horizon.
• We operate 5 ambulances, with 2 full-time 24-hour trucks on duty every single day, and a third truck providing 8-hour coverage for non-emergencies and overflow.
• Our team includes 18 full-time and 15 part time top-tier clinicians — the best in the field.
