Local opportunity to help 🙏🏼

💔🙏 The Junior League of Brownsville stands with our Texas Hill Country friends who have been devastated by the horrific flooding this past weekend. Our hearts go out to all the families and communities impacted by this disaster.

In times like these, every little bit helps. We invite our Brownsville community to come together and support relief efforts. Collection sites will be accepting donations this Monday and Tuesday, so please consider bringing essential items to help those in need.

Let’s show them that the spirit of Texas is strong and that we’re here for one another. 🌻🤝

The catastrophic flooding in Central Texas has left so many families devastated - homes destroyed, lives upended, and communities in mourning. Our hearts are heavy for those impacted. We pray for strength, comfort, and recovery.

If you feel overwhelmed and you’re wondering what to do in the face of such tragedy:
✨ Feel deeply.
✨ Pray if you pray.
✨ Give if you can.
✨ And don’t look away.

Because even in the darkest moments, there is light.

Neighbors carrying neighbors. Strangers becoming rescuers. Communities rising together. The kindness, courage, and humanity we’re witnessing are a reminder that we are never truly alone. These moments remind us that the power to care, to act, and to lift one another up lives within each one of us.

As Mr. Rogers once said:
“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’”

And we do. Every single time.

Memorial Day is a time to remember those who died in military service to the United States. Behind the ceremonies and traditions, this day holds space for grief - both public and deeply personal.

For many families, the loss is not just historical or symbolic, it’s lived and ongoing. Some are mourning loved ones taken too soon. Others are carrying the quiet weight of memories, the ache of absence, or the complexity of surviving what others did not.

Grief on this day can take many forms. It may show up as pride, pain, numbness, anger, or a deep silence that words can’t quite reach. For some, the day is reflective. For others, it stirs wounds that never fully closed.

However it shows up, grief deserves to be acknowledged, not explained away or rushed through.

Memorial Day invites us not only to honor the fallen, but to recognize the emotional aftermath of loss and the resilience it takes to keep going.

May we listen more closely, hold space for those in pain, and remember that honoring lives also means acknowledging the depth of what was lost.

Not all wounds can be seen, and that’s exactly why conversations around mental health matter. Just because someone looks okay on the outside doesn’t mean they aren’t carrying something heavy inside. Be kind, check in on your people, and don’t be afraid to reach out when you need help. Your feelings are valid, and you are not alone.

Therapists are people too. They feel for clients, their loved ones, their families… This miniature right here brings relief to me when I can’t literally go out and hug someone. Today, I took this miniature out and put it on my sandtray. I looked at it for a couple of minutes and allowed myself to feel the relief that comes from unconditional love, nature, and strength that comes from the “small things”… the “small things” that usually end up being the most important ones.

Thank you, Momma Owls Minis for this miniature… thank you for this “small thing”.

Taking care of your mental well-being is one of the best investments you can make in yourself. Whether you prefer the structure of in-person therapy or the flexibility of online sessions, the most important thing is finding support that works for you.

Benefits of In-Person Therapy

✔️ Stronger Connection – Meeting face-to-face can help build deeper trust and rapport.
✔️ Distraction-Free Environment – A dedicated space allows you to focus solely on your healing.
✔️ Body Language & Presence – Therapists can pick up on subtle nonverbal cues that add depth to conversations.

Why Online Therapy Might Be Right for You

✔️ Convenience & Flexibility – Access therapy from the comfort of your home or wherever you feel at ease.
✔️ More Accessibility – A great option for those in remote areas or with busy schedules.
✔️ Greater Therapist Options – Connect with professionals beyond your local area, ensuring the best fit for your needs.

The way you seek support is a personal choice, and there’s no right or wrong answer—only what works best for you. Whether in person or online, the important thing is taking that step toward care, growth, and healing.

Sometimes, we all hit a point where the weight feels too heavy, the road too long, and the spark inside us dims. In those moments, what we need most isn’t just advice or solutions—it’s someone who sees us, believes in us, and holds onto hope when we can’t.

I see you. I believe in you. And until you find your way back to yourself, I’ll hold the light for you. Because sometimes, that’s all it takes to remember the strength that was always yours.

Life can often feel repetitive, as if the same patterns keep cycling endlessly. In reality, each step forward contributes to growth and progress, even if it’s not immediately visible. By shifting how we view our journey, we may realize that what seemed like going in circles was actually steady movement upward. Perspective matters, and even a small change can reveal the progress we’ve been making all along. Keep moving forward; growth is happening, even when it’s hard to see.
