Do you know the effects of Alcohol on Mental Health?

People may view alcohol and drug use as a coping skill for stress, anger, loneliness, and sadness; But it can actually worsen mental health problems in both the short and long term.

Alcohol can bring feelings of relaxation and diminish anxiety, but it is short term. Alcohol acts as a depressant; This means alcohol affects your mental health by disrupting the chemical balance in the brain.

Altered brain chemistry from drinking can lead to negative emotions, such as, depression, anger, and anxiety. These emotions may be experienced regardless of the initial mood.

Alcohol impairs balance, memory, speech, and judgement which can lead to an increase risk of injury. It slows processing which impairs the ability to anticipate consequences.

If you are worried about how alcohol is impacting your mental health, reach out today at 956-410-2424.

There are 5 well-known parenting styles: Authoritative, Authoritarian, Permissive, Helicopter, and Uninvolved.

Parenting styles are often shaped by personal beliefs, lived experiences, and cultural values. It’s important to approach this topic with openness and understanding.

Here’s a quick overview:

✨ Authoritative (Most recommended)
Firm but loving. Parents set clear boundaries while encouraging independence, communication, and confidence.

⚠️ Authoritarian
Strict rules, high expectations, and punishment-focused. Limited flexibility and emotional warmth.

⚠️ Permissive
Very few rules or structure. Warm and loving, but with limited boundaries or consistent discipline.

🚁 Helicopter
Overly involved and highly protective. Often discourages independence and problem-solving skills.

🚩 Uninvolved
Emotionally distant with few expectations or guidance. This is a form of neglect and can be harmful to a child’s development.

Every parenting style has pros and cons, and understanding them can help caregivers grow. It’s also important to learn the signs and forms of abuse so we can protect and support children in healthy ways. 💕

Parenting isn’t about perfection, it’s about awareness, growth, and love. 🌱

It’s time to check in with yourself. 🤍

Pause for a moment. Take a few slow, deep breaths in… and out.
Now gently ask yourself: How do I feel right now?

Notice one thing that’s been on your mind.
Get clear on what you truly need today.
Then honor it — write it down or say it out loud.

You deserve your own attention. ✨

5 Essential Things in Therapy

The right therapeutic relationship can make all the difference. Here are five key ingredients that help therapy feel supportive, healing, and effective:

1️⃣ You feel safe and heard — Your voice matters.
2️⃣ You find a therapist you connect with — A strong, trusting connection can be the heart of the work.
3️⃣ You’re not afraid to open up — Vulnerability becomes easier when you feel supported.
4️⃣ You feel free to express your emotions — All feelings are welcome in the room.
5️⃣ Inner work continues after the session — Real growth happens both inside and outside the therapy space.

Therapy is a journey and these foundations help make it a meaningful one. 💛
If you’re ready to explore your own healing, our clinicians are here to support you.
