BROWNSVILLE, Ky.- William Walter Cook, 89, of Poplar Springs departed this life Nov. 4, 2025 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.

William was born on July 20, 1936 to the late Percy and Marie Ashley Cook. His wife of 64 years, Edna R Cook preceded him in death. He was a disabled dump truck driver and a member of Poplar Springs United Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by two granddaughters, Lexus Wilson and Elizabeth Jones; two sisters, Lorene Richards and Barbara Lashley; and two infant brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Poplar Springs Cemetery. Visitation will take place 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday and after 9:00 AM Friday.

Surviving are four children, Virginia Tipton and Teresa Cook both of Brownsville, William Jr. Cook of Poplar Springs and Eurica Alexander (Todd Lindsey) of Sweeden; seven grandchildren, Julie Hayes (Donald Raymer), Phillip Hayes, Jeffrey James, William Poteet (Nikki), Hank Cook, Cassady Wood and Cheyenne Lindsey; 15 great grandchildren; a sister, Nelsie Jones; and three brothers, Sherman Cook (Lisa), Eddie Cook and Jimmy Cook (Martha); and several nieces and nephews.

BROWNSVILLE, Ky.- Patricia Ann Carroll Coffman, 73, of Bee Spring passed away Nov. 1, 2025 at Glenview Health and Rehabilitation in Glasgow.

The Edmonson County native grew up surrounded by family, faith and the strong values that shaped her life of kindness and service. Patricia was a joy to be around and a devoted caregiver who touched many lives with her gentle spirit, patience and generous heart. She was a daughter of the late Charlie Ova Carroll and Nova Lee Duvall Carroll. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Norma Jean Carroll, Sharon Kaye Carroll McClure, and Arnetha Carroll Dunn; and seven brothers, Jerry Ova Carroll, Kenneth Wayne Carroll, Arvin Dale Carroll, Anthony Charles Carroll, Jeffery Damon Carroll, Terry Wade “Grasshopper” Carroll and David O’Neil Carroll.

Family will be gathering at 11:00 Saturday at Gravil Funeral Home and a memorial service will be held shortly thereafter.

BROWNSVILLE, Ky.- Linda Lou Duvall Beasley, 81, of Brownsville departed this life Oct. 25, 2025 at her home surrounded by family and friends.

The Edmonson County native was a seamstress, former owner of B&B Market and was saved at an early age and became a member of Independence (Slate Bank) General Baptist Church. She loved to sew, read, work in her flower bed and can food. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and the time she spent with them were some of her happiest moments. She was a daughter of the late Arthur Duvall and Dollie Lindsey Blair. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Duvall; three sisters, Carmon Duvall, Anna Lee Adkins and Maggie Reddish Murray; and a son-in-law, Jack Abrams.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Wednesday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Slate Bank Cemetery. Visitation will take place 1:00-7:00 PM Tuesday and after 9:00 AM Wednesday.

BROWNSVILLE, Ky - Jerry Wayne Napier, 63, of Brownsville passed away October 16, 2025 at Edmonson Center in Brownsville.

Born in Hazard, Ky, Jerry was a son of the late James Todd and Roberta Jo Napier Todd and the husband of the late Brenda Mae Napier.

Jerry worked for several years as a client care specialist with Life Skills, Inc., assisting those in need in anyway that he could. He was also a farmer throughout his life. He enjoyed camping, fishing and being outdoors while spending time with his family.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, October 26, 2025 at Gravil Funeral Home.

Surviving are two daughters, Brandy Watt (Michael Cadena) and Hope Napier both of Brownsville; a son, Jerry "Matt" Napier of Brownsville; three grandchildren, Skyler Suttle, Gracie Suttle, and Gage Cadena; a sister, Regina Todd (Curtis) of Bowling Green; two brothers, Joe Todd (Christina) and Scotty Todd (Robin) both of Bowling Green; a special friend and caregiver, Will Norton; and several nieces and nephews.

BROWNSVILLE, Ky.- William Douglas Saltsman, 61, of Sadler passed away October 10, 2025 in Glasgow. Doug was born November 30, 1963 to the late Carlos and Gladys Saltsman.

He leaves to honor his memory four children; Ronnie Saltsman of Springfield, Brandi Burris (Brian), William Macey Saltsman (Victoria) both of Bowling Green, and Olivia Marrero (Trey) of Peonia; two grandchildren; Karson Miller and Elisabeth Marrero ; a sister; Lana Saltsman of Millwood, and a host of nieces and nephews and other family members.

The Warren County native was a homemaker, an artist, a housekeeper at Holiday Inn and a member of Brownsville Missionary Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late George Raymond Fox and Mary Elizabeth Miller Fox. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Linda York, Louise Conners, Wanda Cherry, Connie Beckham and Sheila Fox; and four brothers, Floyd Collins, Danny Fox, Timothy Fox and Gary Fox.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 PM Wednesday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Red Hill Cemetery. Visitation will take place 12:00-7:00 PM Tuesday and after 10:00 AM Wednesday.

BROWNSVILLE, Ky.- Matthew Wayne Duvall, 59, of Sunfish passed away Sept. 30, 2025 at Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center in Leitchfield.

The Edmonson County native was a retired tractor trailer driver. He was a son of the late James Duvall and Goldie Durbin Hardin of Brownsville, who survives. He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Duvall; three step brothers, Doug Hardin, Dewayne Hardin and Timmy Hardin; and a step sister, Cindy Mount.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in New Salem Cemetery. Visitation will take place 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday, 10:00 AM-7:00 PM Friday and after 10:00 AM Saturday.

BROWNSVILLE, Ky.- Paula Ann Claycomb, 69, of Mammoth Cave passed away Sept. 20, 2025 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.

The Edmonson County native was a Licensed Practical Nurse at Rivendell Behavioral Hospital, a former member of Chapter 574 Order of Eastern Star, a 1973 graduate of Edmonson County High School and a member of Cove Hollow United Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late James Lewis Claycomb and Helen Elizabeth Jaggers Brewer of Brownsville, who survives. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Samson Pardue.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Cove Hollow United Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM Tuesday at the church and will continue until the start of the funeral service.

The Edmonson County native was a homemaker, a Fruit of the Loom employee, co-owner of Fashion Cleaners in Bowling Green and a member of United Calvary Baptist Church in Bowling Green. She was a daughter of the late Luster “Lus” White and Verda Alice Miller White and the wife of the late James Richard Mercer. She was preceded in death by a son, Harry Alan Mercer; a daughter, Melissa Susan Mercer; two brothers, Avery White and Jack White; and a sister, Genevieve Ausbrooks.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Brownsville Cemetery. Visitation will take place 2:00-7:00 PM Friday and after 9:00 AM Saturday.

BROWNSVILLE, KY.- Myra Geraldine Ashley Madison, 97, of Lindseyville passed away peacefully with family by her side at Shanti Niketan Hospice House in Glasgow.

The Edmonson County native was a 1943 graduate of Kyrock High School where she was a cheerleader and basketball player, a homemaker, a former member of the Edmonson Co. Public Library Board; a former member of the Edmonson Center Board; a former homemakers club member and a member of Midway United Missionary Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Ewing G. Ashley and Ruth Ellen Lindsey Ashley and the wife of the late Holman T. Madison. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Granville Ashley, David Ashley and Mark Ashley and two sisters, Evelyn Knox and Isabelle Vincent.

A life lived so fully is hard to put into a few sentences, but here are a few other noteworthy facts about Geraldine. Besides her faith, her family was always her No. 1 priority. She lived all but 3 years of her life in Lindseyville, and while away, she longed to be back home with family. As a high school student during World War II, she worked with some of her classmates who rode a bus to Bowling Green to make radio tubes to help with the war effort.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at Midway United Missionary Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will take place 4:00-7:00 PM Thursday at Gravil Funeral Home and after 9:00 AM Friday at the church.

He was a son of the late Elisha Thomas “Lishe” Duvall and Maggie Lashley Duvall and the husband of the late Linda Rose Grant Duvall. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Ben Owens; four sisters, Liz, Nannie, Gertie and Alma; and three brothers, Dallas, Paul and Sherman.

Funeral mass will be held at 5:00 PM Sunday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Visitation will take place 1:00-7:00 PM Saturday at Gravil Funeral Home. Rosary service will be held at 6:00 PM Saturday.
