With a strong cold front expected to pass through Brownsville starting this weekend, Brownville city officials want to remind residents to follow the following tips:
🧣 Protect People. Dress in layers and stay warm indoors. Don’t forget to check on elderly neighbors and loved ones.
🐾 Protect Pets. Bring your pets inside. Make sure they have a warm shelter and access to fresh water.
💧 Protect Pipes. Wrap exposed pipes, let faucets drip, and open cabinets under sinks to keep pipes from freezing.
🔥 Practice Fire Safety. Keep space heaters at least 3 feet away from flammable objects and never leave them unattended.
🌳 Protect Plants. Cover outdoor plants or bring them indoors to shield them from the cold.
Stay safe, stay warm, and protect your loved ones during cold weather!

Tropical Storm Francine will not be stopping by but she will cause a lot of rain and potential for flooding take precautions.

{4:15AM 9/10/2024 TUESDAY} This is the latest update from the NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER. Tropical storm Francine continues to strengthen this morning. Notice the RGV will NOT take a direct hit from Francine, but we will continue to have our coast interact with its outer bands. This means tropical downpours and gusty winds are possible throughout the morning, especially in Cameron and Willacy counties. If you live in Hidalgo or Starr counties consider yourself lucky if you get rained on.
