🎬 We’re wrapping up filming at Perez Elementary! 🎥✨

BBC has been capturing Brownsville ISD’s journey to scratch cooking showcasing fresh ingredients, hardworking staff, and student smiles. 🌱🍎 As part of the filming, we also took students to visit one of our local farms, Terra Preta in Edinburg, Texas, to see firsthand where their fresh produce comes from. 🚜🌿

🎥👩‍🍳 This morning, we welcomed Chef Ann Cooper to Brownsville ISD campuses as we prepare for tomorrow’s filming of a BBC documentary! We are honored and excited to be part of this project, which will showcase the incredible work of the Chef Ann Foundation and the positive transformation of school lunch programs. 🥗✨

Stay tuned… big things are coming to BISD FNS 🎥🥗🎬🌟🌎

The BBC will shoot a short film to show one Texas district’s journey to scratch cook. 🎥

Brownsville Independent School District in southern Texas, a district participant in our Get Schools Cooking program, will be featured in a BBC short showcasing their transition from serving foods that are heat-and-serve to those lovingly made from scratch.

Over the years, this district has prioritized whole ingredients and culturally relevant meals on their menu, and they're gaining students' hearts because of it! With a strong commitment to enhancing their kitchen equipment and sourcing more local produce, Brownsville is paving the way for a healthier future. It's inspiring to see the positive impact this has on their students.

Our team visited Terra Preta Farm in Edinburg, TX. We’ve already sourced fresh ingredients from her farm before, but we’re always on the lookout for new and exciting items to bring even more variety to our students’ meals. 💚
