Happy National Doctor’s Day!

Representation matters. This path wasn’t easy, and I’m proud to stand in a space that hasn’t always been made for women who look like me.

Today is about celebrating the journey, and recognizing all the women, especially Black women and others who have been underrepresented in medicine, who broke barriers, opened doors, and made it possible for us to be here.

Honored to do this work and to keep pushing forward.

Weight loss surgery can dramatically improve health, mobility, and quality of life. Blood pressure stabilizes. Diabetes improves. Energy returns. But for many patients, the mental and emotional adjustment takes longer than the physical transformation. Even after significant weight loss, some individuals still see the version of themselves they carried for years when they look in the mirror. Body image does not always change at the same pace as the body.

This journey is not only about becoming smaller. It is about rebuilding identity, confidence, and self-perception. That process deserves just as much attention as the surgery itself. True transformation includes both physical health and psychological healing.
