Happy Super Bowl Sunday!
Super Bowl Sunday isn’t always about the final score… it’s about being present. It’s an opportunity to gather around a shared table, enjoy a good meal, laugh at the commercials, and soak in the energy of the moment together. Whether you’re watching every play, just the commercials or just enjoying the half time show, these simple moments of connection remind us that taking time to be together, relax, and have fun is an important part of caring for ourselves and one another because well-being is built in the moments we share.

Happy Black History Month! Black History Month is a time to recognize the strength, perseverance, and excellence of Black leaders past and present. It’s also an opportunity to reaffirm our shared commitment to respect, inclusion, and unity. In healthcare, compassion and understanding are at the heart of everything we do — and those values grow stronger when we support one another and celebrate our differences. Together, by choosing kindness and uplifting one another, we continue building a future rooted in dignity, equality, and hope.

Welcome to February! This is a month rich with meaning, connection, and celebration. As we honor Black History Month, we take time to recognize and celebrate the achievements, resilience, and contributions of Black communities, past and present. February also brings moments of love and kindness through Valentine’s Day, Random acts of kindness Day, along with opportunities to reflect on leadership and service during the holidays and cultural celebrations such as Lunar New Year. As the year continues to unfold, may this month inspire positivity, inclusivity, gratitude, and joy encouraging us to connect more deeply with one another and make the most of each day.

We have the opportunity to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the dream he shared with the world… a dream built on kindness, fairness, and caring for one another. His words remind us that real change begins when we choose compassion even when it’s difficult, and we stand up for what is right.
Dr. King said, “The time is always right to do what is right.” At HMG, this guides us every day. It means caring for every person with respect, listening with empathy, and serving with integrity. In his “I Have a Dream” speech, Dr. King spoke of a world where all men are treated equally and judged by their character. Today, we are reminded of that dream and we can honor that dream by committing ourselves to dignity, equity, and compassionate care for all.

Did you resolve to try something new this year? January is National Hobby Month! This is the perfect time to discover new activities that bring joy, relaxation, and a sense of purpose. Trying a new hobby can be an exciting way to learn something different, spark creativity, and add a little fun to everyday life.
Hobbies are not just a way to fill extra time for our residents, They can help improve mood, support well-being, and create opportunities to connect with others. Whether it’s painting, gardening, music, puzzles, or something completely new, discovering a hobby can bring fresh energy and meaningful moments into each day.
Here are some hobby ideas to inspire you:
Creative Crafts: Try sewing - needlepoint, quilting, or painting. Creating something with your hands brings a sense of accomplishment, and your finished pieces can make heartfelt gifts or donations to those in need.
Games & Puzzles: Enjoy crosswords, cards, or jigsaw puzzles to keep your mind sharp.
Prefer tech? Online games on tablets and smart phones are great for mental stimulation, especially during National Puzzle Month!
Book Clubs: Reading is a great leisure activity, and joining a group to discuss books can add a social element and spark meaningful conversations.
Social Media Fun: Stay connected with loved ones by sharing updates, photos, and videos via text, email, or on social media. It's an easy way to stay involved and feel connected.
Music Appreciation: Enjoy listening to your favorite tunes on the radio or join a group sing-along. Music is a wonderful way to relax, lift your spirits, and connect with others.
Hobbies add meaning and joy to life. Which one will you try this month?

Pecan Bayou had a busy end of year with lots of fun activities. Some residents enjoyed spending time with some very lifelike baby dolls, which were a huge hit and brought lots of smiles. We also had the silver Creek band come out for an evening performance, playing a variety of music from the 1950s through the 1980s. Time was spent time painting gingerbread men and wrapped up the year with a toast using some “bubbly” (sparkling cider) and an assortment of sweetbreads-Lemon, blueberry, and banana nut. It was a great week full of fun music and special moments.
