For anyone down near Harpswell…..

Out of an abundance of caution, due to two documented great white shark sightings observed in 48 hours East of Bailey Island, shark notification flags are being displayed at Cedar Beach.

If you observe a shark, if possible, please take a picture and contact the Cumberland County Regional Communication Center - Maine at 207-893-2810. This helps beach managers in Casco Bay take appropriate action at time of the sightings.

Beach goers are still able to access the water. This notification system is in place for people to make informed decisions only.
