Free WHY A TEEN CAN'T CALM DOWN ON COMMAND INFORMATION SHEET
When a teen is overwhelmed, what you see on the outside is only part of the picture. Inside, the body is working hard to manage strong feelings and stress. The brain shifts into survival mode, which limits clear thinking and blocks the ability to follow instructions. Until the body settles, the teen cannot return to a calm and cooperative state.

Teens still need rules, boundaries, routines, and fair consequences. These are a normal part of growing up. The poster below explains why these work best when a teen is calm enough to listen, learn, and take guidance on board.

Comment "TEEN" and we will send you a message with a link to a free PDF of this resource.

Free HOW TO CO-REGULATE WITH A CHILD INFORMATION POSTER
Children cannot calm on their own when they feel overwhelmed. They rely on the adult to guide them back to safety. This image shows simple steps that help you co regulate with a child in moments of distress. Slow your breathing, soften your body, reduce demands, and keep your voice steady. These actions help the child feel grounded and understood. When the adult is the anchor, the child can settle and recover.
