You took a break. You switched from your computer screen and picked up your phone. Why do you still feel like you need a break after going back to your computer screen? Was it the notifications? Was it the newsfeed?
You laughed at a few silly posts. People are so clever. Isn’t laughter supposed to relieve stress? Why after 15 minutes of scrolling do you still feel tense, nervous or on edge?
The “break” you just took wasn’t the “break” that you needed to calm and rest your mind. Instead of turning off the stress response, your internal alarm system, your “break” gave it more fuel.
In this episode of “Stress Talk” Live with Marcyline, we are going to break down the science of what is causing your “breaks” to fail and what your brain needs to recover when we share “Useless Breaks – Try Four Stress Breaks that Actually Work.”

In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to extend kindness and understanding to others while neglecting our own needs. As a Clinical Social Worker, I often remind my clients that self-compassion is just as crucial as compassion for others. The journey of healing begins within. 💖

When we nurture our own well-being, we become better equipped to support those around us. It’s not selfish to prioritize your mental and emotional health; in fact, it’s one of the most compassionate acts you can engage in for yourself and others. Take a moment today to practice self-care—whether that’s journaling your thoughts, going for a walk in nature, or simply pausing to breathe deeply. 🌷

Remember, you are worthy of the same love and understanding that you freely give to others. Let’s embark on this journey of self-compassion together, because every step you take towards nurturing yourself is a step towards healing the world around you. Share your thoughts or experiences in the comments; let’s create a supportive community where we uplift one another! 🌈

Stress manifests in various ways, and being aware of its physical signs is crucial for maintaining our overall well-being. As a Clinical Social Worker, I often see individuals who overlook these signs, thinking they are just passing symptoms. However, recognizing and addressing them early can be key to preventing more serious health issues down the line.

Common physical signs of stress include headaches, muscle tension, fatigue, and changes in appetite or sleep patterns. You may also experience digestive issues or a racing heart. These symptoms can impact your daily life, making it essential to listen to your body and seek support when needed. Remember, it's okay to not feel okay, and reaching out for help is a sign of strength.

If you or someone you know is experiencing these symptoms, consider taking a moment to pause, breathe, and evaluate your stressors. It might be time to connect with a mental health professional who can provide the necessary tools and strategies to manage stress effectively. Prioritize your mental health; it’s just as important as your physical health! 🌱💪

So, the vacation is over. You are returning to work tomorrow and that relaxed, happy feeling you had a few days ago has been replaced by a quiet, creeping dread. Your out-of-office message is still up, but the reality of your overflowing inbox, the mountain of laundry, and getting back to the grind is setting in hard. That feeling is the post-holiday Sunday blues, and it’s like a massive emotional hangover. If you've got a pit in your stomach or a tightness in your chest, you are not alone. Some research shows that many people, maybe as many as 70%, dread the start of the workweek. It's a type of anticipatory anxiety—basically, you're stressing about a future that hasn't even happened yet.
For a lot of us, especially women over 40 this post-holiday crash can feel extra intense. Before you let anxiety hijack the last few precious hours of your weekend, what if I told you there are ways to get your calm back? I’m not talking about the generic advice you’ve heard a million times. In this podcast, I’m sharing five unexpected hacks to help you crush those post-holiday Sunday blues and start your week feeling strong and in control.
In this episode of Stress Talk Live with Marcyline, I am sharing “5 Surprising Hacks to Crush the Post-Holiday Sunday Blues.”

The start of the new year tends to bring pressure, doesn’t it? We are pressured to achieve more, to do more or to be more. Because of this, we make lists of goals to accomplish the feat. “I am going to lose weight.” “This year, I am going to get that promotion.” “This is the year; we clean and purge the house.” “I am going to be fluent in Spanish by the end of the year!”
Before the end of January, these goals have probably faded into the background of our lives. Resolutions become the catalyst for jokes. We laugh and with resignation stay the same. These types of resolutions make us think that we can change our lives from the outside in. However, healing and change occur from the inside out.
In this episode of “Stress Talk” Live with Marcyline, we are going to share “The 4 Mindfulness Habits That Will Change Your 2026.”
