🌿 YOUR Body in Yoga: A Functional Anatomy Weekend with Machelle Lee 🌿
📅 Sat, Nov 1 (1–7pm): Upper Body & Spine
📅 Sun, Nov 2 (1–7pm): Sacrum & Lower Body
📍 Roots & River Yoga in Brunswick, MD
In this hands-on, experiential workshop, we’ll explore the 14 major joint segments that inform most yoga postures. Through bone analysis and range of motion testing, you’ll learn how your anatomy expresses itself in practice and how honoring that can transform both your experience on the mat and your teaching.
🧘♀️ Asana should not be about fitting our bodies into arbitrary alignment but rather adapting the poses to fit our unique body. Yoga is a study of the self in wholeness and of freeing ourselves from suffering. Yoga asana should assist us moving energy, honoring individuality, and cultivating self-acceptance.
Each body is unique, and variations in bones, joints, fascia, and ligaments all play a role in how poses look and feel. We will explore the 14 major joint intersections that make up most poses and take into consideration how YOUR body moves in asana.
✨ Expect liberating “ah-ha” moments that bring clarity, freedom, and deeper compassion for your body (and your students’).
