We are celebrating with Pride today in Brunswick Maine with the leadership of Rae Egbert, Ph.D. JD who started our Center for LGBTQ+ Community Supports. They recently presented on the History of Pride and we all learned so much about the meaning of Pride and events that shaped the Pride movement prior to Stonewall. Not all therapists are effective with all patients, and yet the majority of psychotherapy appointments are made based on availability of providers. One simple and statistically significant way to improve treatment efficacy in psychotherapy is to match clients with therapists who have strong competence in the client population and presenting concerns. At Psychology Specialists of Maine, our team of psychologists is assessed and ranked in over 80 treatment areas and client populations to identify "specializations," "strong competencies" and areas of "low competence." Every client is assessed and matched to a psychologist by our intake specialist to ensure that they are connected to a psychologist who is in the best position to provide effective therapy.
