This April, we're proud to stand with communities nationwide in recognizing Child Abuse Awareness Month. The Banner Wyoming Medical Center team planted a garden of blue pinwheels—each one spinning as a symbol of hope and our unwavering dedication to protecting the children in our community.

According to the National Children's Alliance, the need for action has never been more urgent:
-More than 530,000 children experienced abuse in 2024
-Nearly 1,800 young lives were tragically lost
-Our tiniest community members—infants and toddlers under age 2—face the greatest danger
-Neglect, physical abuse and sexual abuse continue to threaten children's safety and well-being

When we come together as a community—through education, early intervention and supporting struggling families—we can break the cycle of abuse. Every conversation started, every resource shared and every helping hand extended brings us closer to a future where all children can thrive.

Let's be the voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. Let's be the safety net for families who need support. Let's be the change.

Because every child deserves to feel safe, valued and loved. 💙

We celebrated a major milestone for health care at Banner North Colorado Medical Center with the ribbon cutting of three new clinics in Fort Collins at our location on Lady Moon Drive!

We're thrilled to welcome patients to:
- Joint Replacement Center of Northern Colorado – Featuring nine exam rooms, two X-ray suites and a dedicated team of orthopedic specialists ready to support you from diagnosis through recovery
- Neurosurgery Clinic – Bringing specialized spine care for complex conditions closer to home
- Expanded Oncology Surgery Services – Advanced surgical care with a compassionate, expert team

This expansion adds more than 10,000 square feet of beautiful, modern clinical space designed with you in mind. We've also added a fourth operating room, expanded facilities and additional parking to better serve our growing community.

"Fort Collins and Northern Colorado continue to grow rapidly, and our responsibility is to grow alongside the community," said Alan Qualls, CEO of Banner's Northern Colorado hospitals. "Expanding these surgical services and bringing new physicians to the region allow us to meet that demand."

We're proud to make advanced surgical care more accessible to families across Northern Colorado. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special celebration!

A routine 19-week scan turned into a life-changing moment for Mayela, an Arizona mom who learned her baby had a rapidly growing cyst threatening his organs.

Within days, she was connected to the fetal care team at Banner – University Medical Center Tucson, where specialists offered an option few centers can provide: a minimally invasive procedure to treat her baby before birth.

Mayela chose to move forward.

Just months later, her son Julian was born at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix—healthy and thriving.

For families facing complex pregnancies, access to advanced fetal care close to home can make all the difference.

We’re honored to be part of stories like Julian’s.

We came together to honor National Donate Life Month with two meaningful flag raising ceremonies at our Tucson hospitals.

The Donate Life flag serves as a powerful reminder of the generosity and compassion of organ and tissue donors—individuals who have given the ultimate gift and created new beginnings for others. It also stands as a symbol of hope for the many still waiting.

We were especially honored to hear from our guest speaker, Sandra Thompson, whose story brought that message to life. Sandra shared her journey through kidney failure and the incredible care and support she received from Banner Health—both during and after her transplant.

Sandra reflected on the legacy of her donor, calling him her hero for giving her a second chance at life. Because of that gift, she’s been able to watch her children grow and succeed, travel with her husband, and continue building a life filled with purpose.

Now three years post-transplant, she’s also helping bring comfort and understanding to other transplant patients as they navigate their own journeys.

Last week, Banner North Colorado Medical Center proudly raised the Donate Life flag alongside our partners at Donate Life Colorado and Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank to kick off Donate Life Month—a time to celebrate the incredible gift of organ, eye and tissue donation.

We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to honor the legacy of those who have given the ultimate gift of life. Among them is Aubrey Pitts, a beloved trauma nurse practitioner and long-time Banner team member who we lost last year. Through her generous spirit of donation, Aubrey restored sight to two men in Europe, ages 81 and 84. Her legacy of compassion and care continues to touch lives across the world.

We were honored to have Walter Pitts, Aubrey's husband and former NCMC OR RN, join us for this special ceremony.

Here are a few highlights from NCMC in 2025:
-4,650 potential lives saved and healed through tissue donation (1 tissue donor can save and heal up to 75 people)
-11 organ donors
-32 lives saved through organ donation
-62 tissue donors
-874 tissues recovered
-68 donors gave the gift of sight
-139 eye tissues were recovered
-64 eye tissues went directly to transplantation
-Lives were changed across Colorado, the U.S. and even reaching patients in Europe and East Asia

To every donor family, health care professional and community member who makes this mission possible—thank you. Your compassion transforms moments of loss into lasting legacies of hope.
