🌟 5 Big Tips for Making Your Birth Plan 🌟

Your birth plan is more than a checklist—it’s a powerful tool for communication, clarity, and confidence. Here’s how to make yours work for you:

1️⃣ Start with Your Values
What matters most to you—autonomy, minimal intervention, emotional safety? Let your plan reflect your heart, not just your preferences.

2️⃣ Use Yes/No Columns for Clarity
Make it easy for your birth team to understand your wishes. A simple yes/no format for things like pain relief, fetal monitoring, and newborn procedures helps everyone stay on the same page.

3️⃣ Include Partner & Support Roles
List who’s supporting you and what their roles are—whether it’s your doula, partner, or best friend. This helps staff know who to communicate with and how to honor your space.

4️⃣ Plan for the Unexpected
Include gentle preferences for cesarean birth, NICU care, or postpartum recovery. You deserve dignity and informed consent in every scenario.

5️⃣ Keep It Clear & Easy to Read
Use bullet points, icons, or bold headers to make your plan visually accessible. Your team should be able to scan and understand it quickly—even in the middle of labor.
