RCEMS Winter Weather Operations Update
As winter weather impacts Robertson County, Robertson County EMS has activated enhanced operations to ensure continued emergency medical coverage while prioritizing the safety of our patients, crews, and the public.
Operational Updates:
RCEMS has added staffing beyond normal operations in anticipation of increased call volume.
With support from the Robertson County ESD, Robertson County Officials, and Seale-Round Prairie Volunteer Fire Department, a 5th ambulance will be placed in service in the northeast portion of the county during this event.
RCEMS command staff will be assigned to the County EOC beginning tomorrow afternoon to support coordinated emergency response efforts.
Due to weather-related limitations on air medical response, RCEMS has added additional blood products to a supervisor unit during this operational period to ensure continued access to critical life-saving care when needed.
Response & Call Management During Winter Weather:
When icy road conditions are present, RCEMS crews will respond to all 911 calls without lights and sirens.
This does not mean care or response is being delayed, but rather allows crews to operate more safely in hazardous conditions.
To ensure the most critical patients receive care as quickly as possible, RCEMS will prioritize and triage calls during this weather event.
Depending on conditions and call volume, some responses may take longer than usual, and we appreciate the community’s patience as crews work safely to reach everyone who needs assistance.
Our goal remains to arrive safely so we can help effectively.
Cold Weather Safety Reminders:
- Use space heaters with caution
- Do not plug space heaters into extension cords.
Extension cords are a common failure point and increase the risk of fires.
Carbon Monoxide Awareness
RCEMS has added carbon monoxide detectors to all scene bags.
This allows crews to rapidly detect dangerous CO levels during medical responses, particularly those related to heating sources.
