As April comes to a close, we want to take a moment to highlight a few important cancer awareness topics this month.

April brings awareness to:
• Testicular Cancer – most common in younger men (ages 15–35)
• Head & Neck Cancer – often linked to to***co, alcohol, and HPV
• Esophageal Cancer – more common in adults over 50

While these cancers affect different groups, one thing remains the same:
👉 early detection can make a difference

Knowing the signs, keeping up with routine care, and addressing risk factors like smoking and alcohol use are important steps in prevention and early diagnosis.

These are the dedicated individuals who administer treatment. Their role goes far beyond clinical care—they build meaningful relationships, provide comfort during difficult moments, and offer a steady source of encouragement and support.

Our infusion team continuously stays up to date on the latest treatments, carefully manages side effects, and helps guide patients through every step of their journey—all while maintaining a spirit that is truly hopeful and optimistic. Their compassion, energy, and positivity help create an environment where patients feel cared for not just physically, but emotionally as well.

Our pharmacy helps create a more seamless experience for our patients—allowing us to fill the majority of prescriptions right here and reduce delays in care.

Behind the scenes, our pharmacy team, Crystal Fair and Jennifer Spengler, work closely with our physicians, advanced practice providers, and nursing staff to ensure every patient receives thoughtful, coordinated care every step of the way.

We’re also proud to be accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC), a distinction that reflects our commitment to providing specialized, high-quality oncology care.

Today, we’re recognizing our front desk and administrative team—the first faces and voices our patients encounter. They set the tone for every visit with compassion and truly live out our mission: We Care About You.

Brazos Valley Cancer Center was proud to participate in Relay For Life alongside our incredible community. Even with the weather moving festivities indoors, the energy, support, and purpose never missed a beat.

We’re especially proud of our team who came together in support of those impacted by cancer. A special thank you to our nurse practitioner, Pam, for organizing and leading our efforts —your dedication made it all possible.

Events like this are a powerful reminder that we’re all in this together, standing beside our patients not just in the clinic, but out in the community as well.

We love seeing our patients thrive 💜

This past weekend, one of Dr. Durham’s incredible patients—a Texas A&M student now in remission from ITP—hosted the “Pump It Up Platelets 5K” right here in College Station to raise awareness and support for others facing this condition.

Dr. Durham and her family came out in support, alongside Pam and many other members of our team. It was especially meaningful to see so many of our patients and community all coming together for such a special cause.

The turnout was amazing, and the impact was even greater—raising both awareness and support for ITP.

At Brazos Valley Cancer Center, we’re proud to care for patients with both cancer and blood disorders like ITP. Moments like these remind us why we do what we do—supporting our patients every step of the way.

We’re looking forward to being part of Relay For Life this Saturday, April 18 💜

Our team at Brazos Valley Cancer Center will have a tent set up again this year, and we’re excited to spend the evening alongside our community. Last year was such a meaningful experience, and we’re honored to be back.

Relay For Life is a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience, and hope that surrounds every cancer journey. We especially look forward to celebrating the incredible survivors who inspire us every day.

At Brazos Valley Cancer Center, our Advanced Practice Providers are an essential part of the care our patients receive every day.

Ellain, Pam, and Kacie work closely alongside our physicians to help guide patients through every step of their journey. From explaining new diagnoses and answering questions, to managing symptoms and ensuring patients are seen quickly when issues arise, they play a critical role in delivering timely, patient-centered care.

Our APPs also lead chemotherapy teaching appointments, helping patients and families feel informed and prepared, while providing ongoing education and support throughout treatment.

Their compassion, knowledge, and accessibility make a meaningful difference for both our patients and our team—and we’re grateful for the care they provide each day.

We’re grateful for thoughtful community partners. Thank you to Hospice Brazos Valley, Accel at College Station, Parc at Traditions, HomeSpark, and Interim HealthCare of TX & NM for treating our team at Brazos Valley Cancer Center to a coffee truck to start the day.
