Where We Started….

Prostar’s founder, Orlen Howell, Jr (OJ), originally started in the janitorial maintenance industry at 19 years of age as a one man show, but quickly grew with hard work, an eye for detail, and a love for people. His company serviced large retailers like Target, Walmart, and Brookshire Brothers, as well as manufacturing plants, gyms, banks, schools, and hospitals. In 1994, he bid on a new theatre in town, and before long was cleaning 18 of their theatres in 4 states. What he found was that his labor costs were much higher than they should have been due to inadequate cleaning chemicals and equipment, which were provided by the theatres, and varied from theatre to theatre. He found a chemist to develop a line of chemicals tailored to the challenges he faced, and put together a standard equipment package, with online ordering, training, and consistent pricing. He proposed the “Theatre Maintenance Management System (TMMS)” to their corporate team, who agreed to a test, and with hands down manager approval, won their national business. Prostar Industries, a national distributor of janitorial supplies and equipment, was formed in 1997. Twenty two years later, many things have changed and evolved, but Prostar’s unique understanding of the customer’s cleaning challenges, have not. Prostar is still family owned and operated, and Prostar values their customers as though they were family.

This experience allows us to better understand the needs and challenges of our clients, creating valuable long term partnerships. Our focus is to create maintenance programs that meet their goals and help them make more educated decisions to better manage their resources effectively and efficiently.

Our maintenance programs offer services and benefits beyond that of a traditional distributor and are designed to enhance and optimize your “in-house” or “contracted-out” maintenance services. We create solutions through communication, continual education and training, providing innovative, quality products, and value-added services. Our Total Solution encompasses Products, Equipment, Presence, Training & Support.

Products- Our products are an intricate part of a very comprehensive, cost effective and complete maintenance program. We offer a full line of janitorial products & chemicals, paper goods & dispensers, odor control, & matting, as well as chemical dispensing systems for janitorial closets, sinks, dishwashers, concessions.

Equipment- The right tool for the right job is a must in keeping your labor costs down. We offer a full line of equipment, rentals, extended warranties and training. We also offer onsite equipment repairs and preventative maintenance contracts to keep you up and running.

Presence- Our sales team comes onsite to learn your facility, and assess your needs to create the best program for you, and keep you up to date on the latest and greatest cost cutting products and equipment. Our Installation team comes onsite to install all your paper and soap dispensers and chemical dispensing systems. They also follow up with regular inspections to ensure that all systems are working properly, and that you are in compliance with your local health department. We can ship direct to your facility nationwide, our trucks deliver locally, or we can partner with your concession distributor to combine orders for one shipment to your theatre. However you need us, we can get there.

Training- We offer complete and ongoing training, on site and online, on how to use our products and our equipment. With years of “in the field” experience, we have a lot of tips and tricks to share with your in house team.

Support- When you call our office, you are greeted with a live voice, to direct you where you need to go to help solve your needs. We have an online ordering system, with corporate buy guides for consistent pricing for multiple locations, access to SDS sheets, technical sheets, and how to links.
