Yesterday our Health Services Director, Isabel, and our Community Resource Director, Ashlyn, provided the staff at Isle at Watercrest, the Ageing Experience Training. During this training session a few staff members got to experience what it is like to have dementia. Not only does this demonstrate what our residents face every day but it also brings a newfound sense of awareness, and compassion.

We so appreciate Isle at Watercrest for allowing us to share our knowledge and understanding of this disease. This journey is not meant to be fought alone. 💜

Rain or shine, Bella with Aggieland Pets with a Purpose comes often to bring happiness to our residents!

A fun fact: Pet visits bring up memories in people with dementia or Alzheimer’s! 🐶🐱

Even if someone struggles with short-term memory, interacting with a friendly dog or cat can spark long-forgotten memories, like stories from their childhood or pets they once had. These visits often lead to more smiling, talking, and engagement—sometimes even in people who were previously very withdrawn. It’s like the animal flips a switch, even if just for a few meaningful moments. ❤️
