Wednesday afternoon, our first baby of the 2026 season was admitted to the shelter. Just yesterday, on Friday, we received another five to six calls about baby animals alone. It's almost like a sign in our shelter window was flipped "Baby Season, Now Starting! Cottontails-Inquire inside!".
With the start of baby season, we are hosting our annual baby shower! This shower will help us to collect our most necessary supplies for our busiest and most demanding months of the year. Particularly neonatal supplies that we may not have stocked year-round.
Our animals are supported through your donations. The supplies that we use, and animals that we treat each day truly would not be in our shelter if it weren't for the community at our side. So we want to include our supporters in our work, we would like to offer special a thank you to those that purchase off of our baby shower wish list, or make monetary donations from now until February 8th:
$50 in monetary or itemized donations: One entry to win an ambassador animal encounter and a newsletter on our first baby release of the season.
$75 in monetary or itemized donations: Not only do you receive an entry into a drawing to win an ambassador animal encounter, but you will also get to name an animal of your choice between an opossum, squirrel, or songbird. They will receive a special story highlight on our social media-just for you! And when we send your animal back home to the wild, you will receive a release photo or video.
$110 in monetary or itemized donations: You will receive two entries into a drawing to win an animal ambassador encounter, as well as painted art made by one of the ambassador animals themselves! Lastly, you will also receive a Paws and Claws sticker and t-shirt.
*Special Instructions: If you make a donation and would like to participate, please email PawsandClawsRehab@gmail.com. Please send your name, a good email address, and a photo of your receipt (because we can't see when you purchase off the list). Please use the subject line: Baby Shower Donation. Please be sure to include this subject line so we can easily find your entry! Please also allow us at least one week to confirm that we have received your email.
On Valentines day, we will announce three drawing winners of the animal ambassador encounter! Our baby shower wishlist will remain open throughout baby season, but we will not be able to continue with the thank you gifts beyond February 8th donations due to the high volume of babies we expect to be in our care.

Friend to friend, we are in a difficult spot with funding right now. We are doing what we can to be resourceful and creative. Though, our hope is that with enough supply donations from our baby shower, we will be supported through the rest of the major baby season, and we will be able to continue our operation with full force.edio
