🌡️ Is Your Thyroid Working Properly? Try This Simple At-Home Clue! 🦋
Your thyroid affects your metabolism, energy, mood, and even your hair and skin health. One easy way to get clues about thyroid function is with a Basal Body Temperature Test — no special equipment needed, just a thermometer.
Here’s how to do it:
1️⃣ Place a thermometer by your bed before going to sleep.
2️⃣ First thing in the morning (before getting up, talking, or moving), place it under your arm for 1 minute.
3️⃣ Record your temperature for 5 consecutive mornings.
4️⃣ Average the readings.
5️⃣ If you are a menstruating woman, check during the first 3 days of your menstrual cycle for the most accurate reading.
💡 What to look for:
A normal average is usually around 97.8°F–98.2°F (36.5°C–36.8°C).
Consistently lower readings may point to an underactive thyroid.
Higher readings may suggest an overactive thyroid or other metabolic issues.
⚠️ This is not a diagnostic tool — but it can be a helpful piece of the puzzle to discuss with your provider, especially if you have symptoms like fatigue, weight changes, hair loss, or mood changes.
