🩺 The Truth About Health Insurance Companies and Why We Dont Utilize Their Funds

As a provider, I see every day how the business side of healthcare impacts patient care. It’s important to remember that health insurance companies have two primary goals:

1️⃣ Profitability – They are business first. Their shareholders and bottom line often take priority.

2️⃣ Risk Management – Their role is to pool risk, not necessarily to ensure you get the best or most timely care.

⚠️ The risk in trusting insurance companies with your health is that their financial interests don’t always align with your medical needs. This can look like:
🚫 Denied or delayed approvals for essential treatments
🤏🏼 Narrow provider networks that limit your options
📈 Rising out-of-pocket costs, even when you “have insurance”

Your health is too important to be reduced to a balance sheet. Be proactive: ask questions, know your rights, and advocate for the care you need and deserve.
