🚨 1 in 23 men and 1 in 24 women will develop colorectal cancer in their lifetime.

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, a reminder that this is one of the most common—but also one of the most preventable—cancers when caught early through screening.

📊 The facts:
• Colorectal cancer is the 3rd most commonly diagnosed cancer in the U.S.
• Over 150,000 Americans are diagnosed each year
• More than 50,000 deaths occur annually
• Rates are increasing in younger adults

The encouraging news? Screening can actually prevent colorectal cancer. Many cases begin as small polyps that can be detected and removed before they become cancerous.

🩺 National screening guidelines recommend:
• Starting screening at age 45 for adults at average risk
• Continuing routine screening until age 75
• Speaking with your provider earlier if you have family history or other risk factors

🚩 Possible symptoms can include:
• Blood in stool
• Changes in bowel habits
• Persistent abdominal discomfort
• Unexplained weight loss

However, early colorectal cancer often has no symptoms, which is why screening is so important.

👉 If you’re 45 or older, talk with your healthcare provider about colorectal cancer screening. Early detection saves lives.
