Heading to a meeting in OKC…actually a career fair for physical therapists. I come to a stoplight. I look left….and Little Rock nostalgia was next to me.

This had to be the Oklahoma City version of the Cinema 150. It’s fallen into disrepair.

It made me want to see a big budget movie.

Happy Hobbit Day to all of those who celebrate!

Oddly enough, Siri shuffle, pulled up “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” during my drive around the city today. The irony of that is I’m in Oklahoma City via work, by myself. That particular song is about spending a holiday by yourself. I mean, it’s a manufactured holiday and it’s just the Lord of the rings series.… at my clinic in Arkansas this day would have had much discussion, as at least two of our staff take the day off to celebrate Frodo and Bilbo’s birthday.

So no I’m not sad, but i’ve also not revealed my true geeky nature to my new staff in Oklahoma. I’m not hiding anything from them, but I’ve also not quite taught them everything about me yet. I’m not quite ready to scare them off yet.

So happy birthday to Frodo and Bilbo! May your heart be bright.

In the Fellowship movie, when the Council of Elrond began to descend into chaos, Frodo stepped up.
In the Fellowship book, it was much more of a “not me!” moment, a “not it”, moment.

Frodo freely admitted that he didn’t know where to go or what to do, but he would take responsibility for the Ring and get it to where it needed to go. And then his friends stood by him. And then people he’d just met and barely knew saw his courage and pledged their loyalty to help him.

We live among all these loud voices within our community in which each side has “a better way”.

Being a part of a community —especially one divided into factions, requires someone just to say “I can.”
