☕Bright Eyes Espresso Infused Eye Cream (newly formulated to include skin nourishing rose hips oil and now has a bit more of whipped texture in a lovely black glass jar). Our top selling item is now even better!

🪄Appalachian Saining Mist: This magical smudge spray is intentionally made with cedar, spicebush, mugwort & witch hazel for cleansing and clearing. Perfect for setting sacred space for meditation, yoga, ceremony or ritual. It makes a lovely room spray, too. This has become a go-to tool for times when you can’t light up for a smoke cleanse.

🫐Border Patrol Oxymel: Medicine from the Forest Edge that is nutritive and protective to many body systems. This makes a delicious daily tonic alongside your Fire Cider! You'll want to check out the ingredients list on this one to see who all these protective guardians are that hang out on the edge of the wood!

🧘‍♀️Ground & Center Oral Tincture Spray: Helps bring calm to times of chaos. This formula comes in a glass spray bottle that is easy to carry and use in moments of unexpected and intense situations. From fender benders to high anxiety moments and everything in between, a few sprays and these herbs can help you to be more present and in the moment again.

🌻Calendula Lotion Bars: A favorite since the early days of our shop, these lotion bars soothe and comfort dry skin with hydrating and nourishing ingredients. Perfect for winter hands.

😃Joy Juice: This tincture formula has become a fast favorite this year! Sometimes the herbs just want to bring us joy, and that is the message I received from a single patch in the gardens. If you want a little pick me up during the gray days of winter, this blend of Lemon Balm, Peach, Violet, Lemon Balm, Albizzia Flower (Mimosa), Daffodil Flower Essence, and Passionflower Essence might just do the trick!

🪴Rejuvenating Facial Toner: Rosemary, rose petals, yarrow, and witch hazel come together for this uplifting and wonderfully scented long time fan favorite. Use it as part of your skincare routine morning and night or anytime you can use a little pick-me-up!

⚡Tension Headache Tamer: We all know that all headaches are not created equal and can take some finessing to find the right formula for each person. In my practice I see more tension headaches than any other kind. This formula has been the most well received and relieving for a wide range of people. Nobody needs another headache right now! We hope this will help you nip them in the bud.

Stay tuned for more exciting news from The Cat & The Crow over the coming months. There has been a lot brewing behind the scenes and we can't to share it all with you!

Until then, wishing you all a wonderful holiday season. Peace & Hot Chocolate!

A winter's carol, first song of the robin
A winter's carol, echo through the land
And I can hear it
Ringing out, ringing out
From pine to oak
Bringing us, with the December snow
Bringing us a gift of old
Wrapped in ribbons of gold
For the whole world
For the whole world
The Summer Queen has been in darkness
The Summer Queen has been in darkness
The Summer Queen surrenders to this
To him she reveals her secrets
To him she reveals her wine and secrets
For a time, for a time they join
Fire and Frost in marriage
Through a midwinter clearing
A forest greets a snowy evening
Year after year, the Holly King
Passes the torch as it was intended
Through a midwinter clearing
A final kiss and a new beginning
His Summer Queen wearing his wreath
Soon with the sun she will be ascending
Through a midwinter clearing
The forest greets a snowy evening
With four wands of yew, the Holly King
Passes the torch as it was intended
Passes the torch as it was intended
A winter's carol, first song of the robin
The sun is reborn from the starry heavens
A winter's carol echoes, sound of wonder
And I can hear it
Ringing out, ringing out, from pine to oak
Bringing us, with the December snow,
Bringing us a gift of old
Wrapped in ribbons of gold
For the whole world
For the whole world
For the whole world
Ringing out
Winter's carol
Ringing out
Winter's carol
Ringing out

It’s time again for the annual sharing of my favorite Winter Solstice folktale. 🦌🍄

I hope you can take at least a moment to soak in the bright & hopeful light on these still Midwinter days and stand in awe under the dark & starry long nights.

Mystery is alive and secrets are whispered just for you through the bare and rattling trees.

Rejoice in the return of the Sun!

The Deer Mother story can be traced back to ancient times and is linked to folklore around the Winter Solstice. Only fragments of the folktale remain so Dann...

You know you’re in the right place when you ask if they have hot tea, thinking there’s a slight chance for a bag of Lipton and a cup of hot water, but instead they bring you a whole wooden box of herbal teas to choose from. 💚🌿

Thanksgiving can be a day of mixed emotions and hard to digest history. Sometimes I feel like celebrating all the nostalgia and love I’ve felt on this day through the years, and other times I kinda want to blow up the whitewashed version of the historical references we’re fed as the day’s foundation. It feels icky to post advertisements for selling my products for holiday gifts, while at the same time, I’m trying to make a living doing what I love. So many pulls and emotions.

Today I am choosing to focus on gratitude for my teachers on this green path that I walk. The pioneers who opened the way, shared their wisdom, and so patiently have guided me, and continue to do so every day. In person and in spirit when we’re not together.

My stalwart guides: Leslie Williams, Leslie Alexander, Lisa Bedner.

The ones who I have learned from in person and through their writings over the years: Phyllis Light, Matthew Wood Institute of Herbalism, Joanne Bauman, Joan M Cowden, Doug Elliott, David Winston's Center for Herbal Studies, Jim Mcdonald, CoreyPine Shane, Rosemary Gladstar's Herbs & Earth Awareness. So many more!

My Mamaw T. who taught me all about roses and how magical it is to watch someone with a natural green thumb nourish a plant to flourishing. My Mom & Dad whose love of gardening and awe of nature and exposing us to it daily is forever ingrained in my soul.

To all my family & friends who have encouraged me to put myself out there & opened opportunities up to me. You are the secret key to any successes I have experienced.

All these special people are guiding lights, who continuously inspire me to keep growing and show me through example how to be a blessing in my community through the plants, for the plants.

It is because of my teachers that I can stand here today, after all these years and confidently (finally) without doubt in my mind, call myself “Herbalist”. How lucky I am.

With all the gratitude and joy in the world, behold these beautiful humans!

For me, this Purpletop tridens (Tridens flavus) is a perfect representation of this in-between time of year, when it still feels like late summer outside but we’re feeling Autumn in our bones. An iridescent purple haze! There are fields of it in bloom all around me right now that look like big mauve blankets blowing on a clothesline.

It’s a glittery breezy fleeting time, enhanced by the fluttering of so many butterfly wings. Busy, busy but with a pull a little closer to coziness. Do you feel the shift coming, too? 🌾

This is why we do it! 🌸🐛

Passiflora (Passionflower/Ocoee) is the primary and exclusive host plant for gulf fritillary caterpillars. You might have heard that another plant is host for gulf fritillary, but that is simply incorrect. This is the only one for them! However, other species of butterflies also use passionflower as a host plant. BUT, gulf fritillary's entire life cycle, from egg to caterpillar to chrysalis, is dependent on the passionflower vine for sustenance and development.

If you have children, this is a great plant to have in your yard so they can watch the whole life cycle. It never ceases to thrill young and old alike! Yet another way that Passiflora can help us ease anxiety.

My Story

All of my life, I have been in a deeply connected relationship with the natural world. This connection has led me to a deep understanding of plants and the medicines they can offer. us I make simple herbal and plant based remedies for common ailments and first aid needs, as well as, more nourishing extracts, skin & self care items for those who want to move beyond using only what is available from drugstores and pharmaceuticals. I am an herbalist experienced in the folk and wise woman traditions, and am always continuing my education through hands-on workshops, online courses, lessons from herb-wise elders, and from the plants themselves. After making remedies for myself and my loved ones for several years, I decided to open The Cat & The Crow as an online shop in September of 2019. It has been such a great experience connecting with people from all over the world and seeing them receive the healing they need from these plants. Most of my offerings are made from organically grown/pesticide free plants and herbs that I grow on my own land, or that I have wild harvested in a sustainable way. If I didn't grow or harvest an herb myself, I am sure to only use organic products from a reputable source. My creations are made in small batches and slow processed over a long period of time to extract the very most of the healing properties that the plants have to give. My ultimate goal is to help reconnect people with the healing properties of the plants that grow right outside our doorstep, easily accessible to everyone. Humankind grew alongside the plant kingdom, but over the last few generations that connection has been dismembered and lost for many reasons. When we use plants as food and medicine, our bodies remember exactly how to use them for the highest benefit. I want to help people re-member that ancient relationship and rekindle the connection of working with nature, while at the same time, protecting it.
